This seems appropriate in light of the recent discussion about SDA worship music.

Check out this link to North Point Community Church Worship Style Test.

Well, according to that test I am contemplative and intellectual. a score of 20 on each.
My lowest score was Sensate, score of 6.
It was fun and informative.
Thanks Alan.

Interesting test - I scored very close to River. 21 Intellectual, 18 Contemplative as the highest, and then Sensate and Traditionalist were the lowest both at 6.

My two lowest were also Sensate and Traditionalist. For highs I had 23--intellectual; 19--enthusiast; 18--contemplative. Isn't this from cforrester's church?

It was interesting. I scored 3 with the same score of 20: Intellectual, Caregiver, and Sensate. Enthusiast was 18, then another two way tie of 15 for Ascetics and Contemplative. What is the purpose of the test?

Susan

Yes, I think it is from Cforrester's church, Aliza.

Raven, my scores were almost like yours. Intellectualó23; Comtemplative, 17. My lowest score was 7, and several things were in that category including sensate and traditionalist.

Fun test! By the way, I noticed it came from material published by Gary Thomas. If you ever get a chance to hear him speak, GO! He's come to our church twice. The first time he conducted his Sacred Marriage seminar, the secondóhis Sacred Parenting weekend. He is an amazing and fun and deep speaker and thinker.

Fun test. Intellectual was highest, followed by sensate. My lowest was a 7 in traditionalist. Most of mine were clumped in the middle, 4 of them scored a 13.

It does a nice job of showing that we relate best to God, and relate to different approaches in worship.

thanks for the link. My 3 highest were complentative (20), caregiver (19), and enthusiast (18). My lowest was traditionalist (6).

I think this test shows there is no cookie cutter way to have worship.

Weird, I have two tiers that are tied. Naturalist(20), Enthusiast (19), Contemplative (19). Then there is the second tier of Sensate (16), Intellectual (16), and Caregiver (16). Then came, in order, Ascetic, Traditionalist and activist was last.

If that doesn't confuse me and you, I don't know what would! I guess I need to grow my beard out a tich longer, grab a robe; a drum; some incense; and find a forest clearing to do a drumming circle in while burning incense and wearing a robe. Church anyone?!

Hm, Loneviking, looks like I'm coming to your church. My scores were practically the same. Not really surprising to me. Truth is, of course, very very important to me. But I definitely feel closest to God while walking in the woods. It's not the solitude, it's the sense being involved I think. Hm, maybe another part of the test should have to do with how we think in general. If I really need to think, I need the rest of you people to be quiet! But I am very much a "people person" too. We are complex people.

Yes, we are complex people and I'm not sure any test can accurately convey just how complex. I'm lucky though, I can scoot up to Tahoe anytime I want a walk in the woods!

Lydell, there you are! Carol2 and I are looking for you re the womens conference. Carol says you are from the southeast as well. Scroll down topics and find women's conference. Hope you will join us! We are gonna have a fun, fun, freedom, conference! Email me if you will, I need to ask you something else as well, 4excape@bellsouth.net.

Bill and Lydell, my scores are the same as well. Bill, the beard part would be hard for me, but I have a robe, and a great 1/4 mile prayer walk in the woods behind my house, complete with waterfall and stream, and small lake--would make a great church. (River do you know how to trap beaver--you can have them for dinner if you can catch them!) They are taking down my hardwoods...

I wonder how this would change through time and moods as well.

I took the test again. I was feeling quite neutral as I took it today.

Naturalist 18
Sensate 15
Traditionalist 10
Ascetics 15
Activists 11
Caregiver 19
Enthusiast 22
Contemplative 19
Intellectual 17

Looks like today I am a enthusiastic caregiver who wants to be by myself in nature with just a hint of intellegence.

I'd also recommend the sermon series that went along with the quiz. It was really good. It was one of the first of his series that we went through after starting attending there (from Adventist churches) and we really enjoyed it.

Ok, I took the test.

Ascetics 23
Contemplative 22
Caregiver 22
Traditionalist 21
Activist 18
Sensate 18
Naturalist 17
Intellectual 16
Enthusiast 15 - my lowest, but not very low

What does that all mean? I think it means what I feel. I don't like any cookie cutter worship that fits all. I like some praise, some alone time, some hymns, some activism, some searching of the scripture... we are people with a variety of needs, huh?!

Lisa
