It seems that new posts are added at the bottom of this forum now? Before they were added to the top ... Could the forum be split up a bit like in years or something .. its getting huge. In Him | ||

Sorry, found out that new posts still are being added to the top. Anyways it might be nice to have only posts from the present year displayed on the forum and having the rest in yearly archives. | ||

Mwh, I was thinking that those posts that end up at the bottom were new threads opened inside another existing thread. I wondered where one post went, until I found it by the "last day" search. Perhaps Colleen or Richard can explain. I personally like having new posts at the top, but I'm ignorant as to how a bulletin board actually works technologically. Susan | ||

Yes, it's possible for Richard to organize and archive some things...but the way I always find "new stuff" is what Susan said above: at the bottom of the forum pages, both the opening page and the threads, is a blue band. See it? There are these buttons: Topics, Last Day, Last Week, Tree View, Search, Help/Instructions, Program Credits. If you click on "topics", you'll get that whole long list of active threads. If you click on "Last Day", you'll get everything posted in the last 24 hours from the time you click. "Last week", same for the past seven days. Richard often uses this method: click on "search". Under "Search by date", select the number of days or hours since you last logged on (for esample, if it's morning, I might click last one day or last 10 hours, etc.) Then select the button for "registered users". Perform your search. From then on, if you select "registered users" and click "search", only the posts since the last time you logged on will show up. It's a nifty search if you check in often! Searching for "Last Day" is the way I use the forum also to catch everything. But something strange did indeed happen. Those last 3 threads at the bottom of the page are brand new threads that should have appeared at the top as new threads normally do. They don't seem to be "within" an older thread, but totally brand new. | ||

Hey! It may be me? I'm still getting use to how to post new threads here...I noticed I just started a new thread on mwh's thread "new stuff"...I didn't mean to...it makes it look like I hijacked his thread. Anyway, if anyone wants to give me some pointers if I'm doing anything wrong, please do! For now, tho, it's waaaay past my bedtime and I better go unless I really mess things up. tami  | ||

Hey Tami, here's how that process works. If you are in a thread like this one, and go to the top, click on 'new thread' and then post, your topic gets "attached" to this one. Afterwards, when you go to (in this example) the thread Mwh started, you will see your additional thread at the top. It's not visible in the main topics listing, though. That's what I think happened with the 3 threads that were placed at the bottom, in that they were originally "attached" to other threads, and when separated out, fell to the bottom. Of course, who am I to know? I'm a registered nurse To begin a whole new thread, that will show up at the top of the main topic page, you must first go to the main topic page. Then scroll to the bottom where it says start new thread or new thread (can't remember) and post your topic that way. Then you will see your new thread. Hope this helps. I feel like Richard/seeker when he talked about cringing over language. I need to develop more economy of speech. Of course, I've always envied poets for that ability.  Susan |
