Am I the only ex-Adventist in Boulder County? Come out from under those rocks and identify yourself - we've got work to do. There's a whole lot of shakin' goin' on! It's time to blow the pity party and get down with the get down. I don't care if you are an alcoholic, pornofreak, liberal, conservative, thief (though you are only invited to my house when I'm home), liar (I know plenty of these), divorced, fornicator, or just plain sick and tired of being sick and tired. I will even challenge any rock solid SDA to ask me why I really left - "you really oughta know". Not starting a group, I just want to know that you are out there. If you have given up on God because of Adventism, I got good news for you. God is way bigger than that church and He's way bigger than your sin and He can prove it to you, but you have to give Him a chance. I'm not sure where this goes, just want to know you're alive. Dennis, Nope, no Tom in the family. But I understand you are in Nebraska? I attended Enterprise Academy 1966-1969 though. I wonder if we have common aquaintances. I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. I didn't go to Union College, but I went to Lincoln to party there (years ago, of course). Stay out of this River (kidding). steve | ||

Steve, Yes, my wife and I have lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for over 34 years. Perhaps you were partying with my roommate at Union College (smile). Amazingly, he had a way of entering the dorm after the doors were locked. Dennis Fischer | ||

Melissa, Yeppers, I grew up in OP. Still have family and many friends at New Haven SDA church. I went to a potluck there about a year ago. Someone I grew up with asked me where I went to church, I told them a nondenominational apostolic church. They said "oh no, we need to pray for you". I replied that they should be careful what they pray for. I grew up one block from Shawnee Mission Medical Center, where I worked on and off for several years. Stevendi, I can really relate to feeling alone. Here I am near Las Vegas-SIN CITY-to be exact next door in Henderson. I know there are former adventists out there in Clark County somewhere. God made sure I met a former SDA from my church about 1 1/2 years ago. SO IF THERE ARE ANY FORMER SDA OUT THERE OR CURRENT ONES WHO ARE QUESTIONING THE SDA DOCTRINES AND YOU WANT TO GET ACQUAINTED, LET COLLEEN KNOW AND WE CAN GET ACQUAINTED. I periodically get emails/letters asking if I know of any formers in various cities around the country. I always reply that they need to come here, get acquainted, and ask! I realize how timid many of us feel when we first admit to ourselves that we're seriously questioning. Keeping one's identity private is a really big deal at first, so we make a practice not to reveal any person's identity to anyone else without permission. Similarly, we never share our Proclamation mailing list with anyone. Colleen |
