Hello all,

I just returned home from a place where I had no access to the internet, no matter how hard I had fight for one, and because I needed some references from EG White's writings, I visited http://www.whiteestate.org/, and saw the new tool for putting the adventist children under the influence of Ellen White, a quarterly magazine, entitled Visionary for Kids.

After reading it, I must say that I feel pain for those kids who will read the document, especially because they promote myths about Ellen White.

For example, on page 5, in the article "Did You Know", there is presented a story supposedly happened in Australia, in 1894. The Devil was angry with Ellen's mission and brought people to attack physically the tents, throwing stones, because they hate Ellen White's subjects: Jesus, Ten Commandments, Sabbath keeping, The Second Coming of Christ, and Signs of the Times.

An Irish police officer cames and watching at night especially Ellen White's tenth, he saw a light over her tenth, and after this, he saw the angel of Ellen, and he returned to police office telling others that his services are no longer needed, because an angel protects Ellen White.

Imagine yourself reading this story when you're a kid! It seems that the leaders of the church have no shame in telling lies, even to the children, to accomplish their purposes.

On the next page, the article "The Unread Prophet, Why should I listen to Ellen White?" is written by a 16 year old boy. Amazing is that he's trying to instill fear in the hearts of the children,

quote:

If you need examples of what happened when people did not listen to prophets, read about them in the Bible. Almost no one listened to Noah, and as a result, they were caught by surprise when the flood came. No one believed Jeremiah's prophecy that if they didn't change their ways the Babylonians would come and conquer them. But the Babylonians came, they saw, and conquered.

People, I'm very upset when reading how the children are brainwashed in this way!

Don't forget, an 16 year old boy is writing this article, if this is not another lie, for gaining the children's confidence.

Those who don't believe in Ellen White are also accused of not reading her writings,

quote:

Most people who say that they don't believe in Ellen White aren't reading her. People are listening to second-hand information about her ministry and writings.

Wow, I can tell others, that BECAUSE I had read more from Ellen White than other adventists, I rejected her claims. Only in this way, I became aware of her mistakes. Sadly, the 16 year old boy is not reading Ellen White enough, and listen to second hand sources, people who tell him "Most" unbelievers in Ellen White don't read her writings. Of course, they don't read her writings in the present, but in the past they had a high esteem and respect for her writings, took them seriously enough to examine carefully if she is indeed what she claimed to be.

I think that this guy never stumbled or read much material from www.ellenwhite.org. So much for second hand sources.

My question: is this not article in line with Dale Ratzlaff's idea that the church is becoming closed minded?

I have the SDA children on the list for the Prayer Circle and I will emphasize it when I post again this week.
Yes, it does scare me that the children are being exposed so young, just for the money it will bring, not for teaching them about Jesus Christ.

Jackob, this is, as you say, another instance of the church becoming more closed minded. I know that in the elmentary Bible curriculum Ellen White and Adventist pioneers and traditions are being re-introduced with a purposefulness and intesnity that was not present when my sons were in elementary school in the early-mid 90's.

The church is definitely retrenching and attempting to fortify its members against the growing exposure of the truth about Ellen White. Their emphasis on educating the children wrenches my gut too, Jackob.

And I agree with you about the frustration of hearing them say the critics are not reading Ellen. Those who are the most vocal and profound critics are those who took Ellen and the general church teachings and traditions the most seriously. In fact, I believe that those who take Ellen and the church the most seriously are the most likely to leave for the sake of Jesus when they finally "see". The non-practicing, "loose" Adventists are less honest internally than those who take their Adventism seriously.

Jackob, we just listened to several of the MP3 files on the website for teachers to use in the classroom. It is amazing to me how they are purposefully indoctrinating the children. If I had heard those dramatized stories in second grade or so, they would have made a deep impression on me.

Sigh.

Colleen, I gave this information for lurkers, especially for the evangelical adventists who believe that the time of myths about Ellen White is in the past, and we are on the brink of a new era of renouncing the Ellen White's myths that have plagued the past.

The education given to the children proves that nothing changes. Also, there is another proof that the church is speaking on both sides of the mouth regarding Ellen, the official reaction to Graeme Bradford's book, "More than a Prophet". I'm going to start a separate thread about this sooner.

You're right, Jackob. It's definitely speaking out of both sides of the mouth.

The indcotrination in these online sources you gave, Jackob, is profound. I haven't seen anything close to it since I was a child in elementary school—and then what we had wasn't as attractively packaged and accessible as are these stories and other materials.

The church is most definitely seeking to indoctrinate the generation in elementary schools today. They "lost" much of the Gen X'ers and the generation my sons' ages—at least, they "lost" them to a degree. They certainly don't know much about Ellen if they come from certain geographical locations!

Didn't the GC in St Louis 2005 decide to make more EGW writings available to the members of the church??
This is just another way of influencing them. Get them young!

You're right, Diana. Good point. This shouldn't surprise us at all!
