Does anyone besides me think the pictures are kind of funny. Well, not the pictures themselves but the fact that for so long we, or I, had imagined what everyone looked like.

Colleen, I had you pictured exactly like you are--and you are beautiful. Thanks for helping me get one up, I'm not so technical.;)

Yep it's fun (and funny) to match my preconceived notions against the pictures people post. Some are on the mark, some are WAAAAYYYY off.

Awesome to see you Sabra!

Sabra, are you talking about the avatars? Or are there some other pictures posted somewhere? I've been gone for a week, and I'm trying to catch up this morning.

(I don't really look like Julie Andrews...)

I don't really look like my horse either, I don't know why they keep saying I'm mule headed!

I really do like the photos each person has put on. If they have not put a photo of themselves it is done for a reason. As for me, I want any SDA that knows me, who come to visit this site, to know I am no longer a member of the SDA church.
River, I would like to see you better. That is a good photo of your horse. What kind of horse is it? I have liked horses since I learned to walk. I rode our neighbor's horse bare back as a kid.

I have tried several times to get my photo on, but I just can't seem to get it right. Don't know how to get it small enough to be accepted.
I'm really not very technical.
Maby someday.

Toria
I think it has to be 50x50 or something like that.
It is in the help files I think for the size.
A photo program usually will let you resize, I use thumbsplus.

Dianna, the horse is a Tennessee Walker, I liked this picture because it looked like he was grinning at me but it's to small to see.

River, I didn't know it was a horse until you pointed that out! I think it's time for a new picture. Maybe Mr. Ed? hehe

Thanks Colleen.
I did not want to bother you guys as I know how busy you must be, however, now I will do that. I keep my photos on software called 'Picasa 2', from Google. I downsized a photo as far as I could, but it was still too big to be accepted.

River, thank you also. I am really greatful for any suggestions that will help me with computer skills.

Blessings

River’s picture and name always reminds me of the song Old Rivers done by Walter Brennan. It was one of my favorites when I was growing up and I will still stop what I’m doing to listen when it is played.

Somehow the words of the song seem to fit, if only allegorically. They likely apply to any and all of us.

HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE I FIRST SEEN OLD RIVERS?
WHY, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN HE WEREN'T AROUND.
WELL, THAT OLD MAN DID A HEAP OF WORK;
SPENT HIS WHOLE LIFE WALKING PLOWED GROUND.

HE HAD A ONE-ROOM SHACK NOT FAR FROM US,
AND WE WAS ABOUT AS POOR AS HIM.
HE HAD ONE OLD MULE HE CALLED "MIDNIGHT",
AND I'D TAG ALONG AFTER THEM.

HE'D PLOW THEM ROWS STRAIGHT AND DEEP
AND I'D TAG ALONG BEHIND,
BUSTIN' UP CLODS WITH MY OWN BARE FEET --
OLD RIVERS WAS A FRIEND OF MINE.

THAT SUN WOULD GET HIGH AND THAT MULE WOULD WORK
TILL OLD RIVERS'D SAY, "WHOA!"
THEN HE'D WIPE HIS BROW, LEAN BACK IN THE REINS,
AND TALK ABOUT A PLACE HE WAS GONNA GO.

(CHORUS)
SAY, ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GONNA CLIMB THAT MOUNTAIN;
WALK UP THERE AMONG THEM CLOUDS,
WHERE THE COTTON'S HIGH AND THE CORN'S A-GROWIN',
AND THERE AIN'T NO FIELDS TO PLOW.

I GOT A LETTER FROM BACK HOME THE OTHER DAY --
THEY'RE ALL FINE, AND THE CROPS IS HIGH --
AND DOWN AT THE END MY MAMA SAID,
"YOU KNOW, OLD RIVERS DIED."
I'M JUST SITTING HERE ON THIS NEW-PLOWED EARTH,
TRYIN' TO FIND ME A LITTLE SHADE.
AND WITH THE SUN BEATING DOWN, 'CROSS THE FIELD I SEE
THAT MULE, OLD RIVERS...AND ME

Richard, thank you for getting my photo up. It was taken a little over a year ago guys, but I don't look a whole lot different now.

Hey Toria, what a pleasant surprise! Great to see you.

And thank you so much jdpascal for the words to that song, I was sitting here awhile back wishing I had the words to it.

When I was a little boy I used to follow along behind my uncle as he plowed the rows straight and true behind a mule named "ol' Fred" and I would bust up clods of the newly turned ground around in my bare feet.

Thank you again!

Hey, thanks people. This feels like coming home for a visit.
I waited to have my photo up. I was concerned that my SDA friend might be put in an awkward position if I was recognized, as I have discussed her on here. I no longer have that concern. I talked with her recently. She reported that a young family (I remember them as really nice folks who were heavy into Bible study, apart from the church 'studies'), had left the church.

She said their leaving had something to do with their views on Ellen White. Praise God. However, my friend also informed me that she is staying completely away from "all that" because she does not want to find out anything that will put her in a position of having to make a decision.
She says she really should read her Bible more, and probably will, but wants only to be able to go to church for worship and prayer.

I have the feeling that she is very uncomfortable right now. First I leave, and now a family, all for much the same reasons. I think I know her well enough to say, that if she starts reading EGW she will be wondering how to compose a letter of her own. She is trying to avoid that.
She is in God's hands. He will lead her as/how He has planned. She remains my friend, and in my prayers.

Blessings
Toria
