Theorem: The Investigative Judgement is False.

Proof: (By Contradiction)

Suppose the Investigative Judgement is true and started Oct. 22, 1844.

Let (Sm) be the sequence of all the believers who died before October 22, 1844. (Sn) is a finite subsequence of the series S.
The remainder of the series S is comprised of all the believers who were born and died on and after Oct. 22, 1844 and continuing.

Case 1: If S is finite, the Investigative Judgement will end at some point in the future. But for S to be finite the human race would become extinct. But if the human race becomes extinct the Bible is false and there is no need for Christ to return.

Case 2: S in infitite and does not converge. The Investigative Judgement does not end. God has eternity but if the IJ never ends Christ will never return if the IJ is true. But the Bible says Christ WILL return.

Since the Bible is TRUE and the Word of God and says Christ WILL return, the IJ is false.

Also, (On an elementary level) if Jesus is God like he says he is, then he knows all and sees all. He knows our hearts. He knew who we were even before we were born. It is absolutely rediculous to consider that Jesus would be so ignorant to need to investigate each and every person by pouring through millions and millions of "sin" books.

In addition, the sanctuary has already been cleansed by the Maccabees - before Jesus was even born! (Check up on Jewish history) You cannot fulfill a prophesy that has already been fulfilled. Besides that, as I've learned from my friends here, Jesus' blood only cleanses us. It never defiles anything. The Bible says that Jesus sits at the right hand of God and that his atonement is finished. You just can't add to that.

Thanks for your post Reb! I'm sure there will be some great posts on this one...

great point, leigh ann. why someone would think God would need a book like an accountant to go through piece by piece is ridiculous. God knows everything about us in an instant. more than we ever could know about ourselves (or others). i wonder how they logically explain that?

Hi Nicole, the is no logical explanation for the IJ. Their explanation is that the IJ's purpose is to "vindicate" God's character and show the supposed "unfallen beings"(EGW says they exist on other worlds but the Bible is silent) that we are "safe to save". First of all God is SOVEREIGN LORD over all the Universe. The idea of Him being on trial is blasphemy.

There is NOTHING in the Bible that supports the IJ. And it looks like I have also given a mathematical proof of it's falsity.
