It has been an absolutely gorgeous day today. I feel so energized when I start the week in fellowship with other Christians. The thought struck me this morning -- Christians start the week in fellowship with other Christians, while Adventists relegate it to the end of the week after they have attended to all their other concerns. Each week Christians celebrate Christ's resurrection. Adventists celebrate by saying "Happy Sabbath!", whatever that means.

What a difference!

In Christ,

Oh, Gilbert, I love what you said. We begin the week by celebrating Jesus resurrection. It makes a big difference, because Jesus is our all and is so very awesome.

Gilbert, I really like what you said, you put a twist on it that I have never thought about.

This statement, “Christians start the week in fellowship with other Christians, while Adventists relegate it to the end of the week after they have attended to all their other concerns”

Absolutely, we had such a wonderful service this morning, I feel energized and ready to go.

What you said really strikes me, worship services on the first day of the week.
What a way to start the week, not at the end but at the beginning.

When I was born again, it was the beginning of a new day/week for me as I know it was for you.

How wonderful it is to rest in his rest, not just today but every day and starting the week in fellowship with other Christians, what a way to start the week, energized and vitalized.
We got to singing that old song this morning “I’ll fly away” and I thought we were all going into orbit, it was just a happy and joyous time, then the men had to stand up front and sing to the women “Victory in Jesus” and we let’er rip.
God bless you this wonderful day my friend, if I keep writing about this I am going to end up dancing around this office!
So in Christ.

Gilbert, how true! Thank you for your observation. Worship now is a completely new paradigm. Jesus is real!

River - Victory in Jesus is such an exciting song. Becky Phillips has a great version at http://youtube.com/watch?v=7IPMEIBcSrk

Being a Christian is so exciting! No "Close of Probation", no time without a Heavenly Mediator, no 1844 baloney. Praise God! None of the fear that is at the toxic heart of Adventism and Ellen White's teachings.

A favorite verse of mine is 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV), "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

This is awesome! With starting the week off with Jesus, we get to go in the joy of His grace, resting in His finished work, trusting His unfailing love for and work in us, finding His mercies new every morning.

Finishing the week off with the Sabbath the focus is on our works - did we get all our work done before Friday night? Are all our meals pre-prepared? Our clothes clean? Our houses spotless? Have we put every 'secular' thing away? It turns into what are we doing to earn the coveted, longed for, but rarely achieved 'Sabbath rest' instead.

Wow!

Blessings,

Mary

River -- I think you started something. <grin>

I just absolutely love that song, "Victory in Jesus" -- especially the way Becky Phillips plays it at http://youtube.com/watch?v=7IPMEIBcSrk

It has been going through my head all day. Words can not describe how happy I am to have "Victory in Jesus"! I just want to sing and dance! You must have had an awesome church service yesterday.

Hey guys,

"Happy Sabbath" only means one thing to me: PAIN. I have spent the last 15 years in a living hell because of the Sabbath. I hated it. I couldnt play sports with the other kids. I couldnt go to a normal school with everyone else. I was looked at differentaly from everyone else. I coulnt go outside to play like the other kids. I couldnt go and play baseball. "We wouldnt want you to have to choose between God and sports." "Have him play the piano. It will keep him from having to worry about breaking the Sabbath."

Had to attend a academy because a real high school would be a bad influence on me and might lead me away from the truth. Guys I missed out on so much in life becuase of an obsession with a day of the week. You will not be saved if you don't keep it. At academy I was forced to attend church each weekend. I didnt have a choice. I couldnt listen to music on the sabbath. I would find ways to get around that. Adventism is a CULT and nothing more.

My post is nothing more than raw emotion. Guys it hit home when Gilbert mentioned that phrase. It tore me up at work. It just hit a nerve that I didnt know I had. It's not anyone's fault, just that it brought alot of stuff up that I have spent years trying to hide away. It tears me up when I want to invite my parents to an event and they can't make it because of the sabbath. I don't know what to do. Prayer would be great. I feel that I am in a dark hole in the earth and there is no hope down here. The only thing that I can here is a small voice saying, "I am with you." Adventism is such a presence in my family. It controls them in everything they do. It seems like it is a chain of opression. I can't wait for the day when they see who is the "true" sabbath rest.

I know that my post sounded alot like a "ME" post, but that was the point. I just wanted to get it out.

It has taken me several years to get over all the wrongs done to me by the Adventist church, but it is worth the time. Jesus has some really cool plans for me and I dont know what they might be, but I will be here. Thanks for letting me just sound off! Thanks...

Isaiah

PS: I love worshipping on Sunday mornings to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Ikilgore -- Praise God! What a wonderful post. Growing up as a faculty kid at (Saint) Andrews University, I can definitely relate to what you said.

Isaiah -

Just know that I completely understand everything you feel about your childhood. I feel it too.

Ikilgore, I also understand everything you posted above. It is shared pain; it matches that which I also experienced. There is still great spiritual separation between us and my in-laws over Adventism.

You are here where we understand and hold you up.

Praying for God to heal your heart,
Colleen

Thanks guys for the support and prayers. Its like a part of my life was lost in a moment. You leave adventism and you never know how much it has an influence on you until you leave... I am making up for the lost times. I can never make up the whole thing, but I really don't have to because there is a comfort in knowing Jesus and it helps to relieve the pain. Thanks for the continued prayers....
