Colleen -

I just finished reading your article "Discovering the Adventist Jesus". Excellent article.

I do not claim to understand the Trinity completely, nor the differences between Adventism, Arian, Tritheism or all the other views on the subject.

I did not realize the adventist had an incorrect teaching on the trinity until I read about it in a post on here a few months ago. It had never entered my mind that my thinking was incorrect. But, the real "kicker" for me in your article was that Jesus could not have sinned. This had never occurred to me. I was also taught everything you list in the paragraph "confusion cleared". I read this paragraph over and over. It was a completely new thought to me. Just like you I was taught Jesus could have sinned, He gave up His divine power in becoming a man, and I too could live a perfect life because He had no advantage over me.

Now here is the happy part of the story. After reading that I simply said to myself "Yes, this article is correct and I was taught false information" and that was that! To me that was huge. To be able to simply and quickly accept a new idea contrary to SDA teachings is huge!

I think that many adventist read this forum and ask "how can they just walk away from all they know". You don't just walk away. It took me years. Years of pain, tears, doubt, questions, fear.

So for me to read this article and quite simply change my entire way of thinking makes me very happy! So thank you Colleen for presenting this information in such a way that it made sense to me and opens my eyes to a whole new way of thinking about the life of Jesus on this earth, what He did for me, and what I am expected to do.

Praise God, Laurie! I've had a similar "A-ha" as I've worked through this information. It's hard to explain, but I totally understand your reaction.

You're right--we don't "just walk away". It DOES take years of pain, tears, doubt, questions, and fear. It's amazing, one day, to realize that I've finally come to the place of knowing Jesus is completely trustworthy. He now shapes my understanding.

It's amazing--and thank you for sharing your reaction, Laurie. It's encouraging.

Laurie,

It is a long journey, I believe for most. It took my wife and I a number of years of studying to overcome the first very challenging MUST DO:
That is: UNLEARN much of what we had been taught, in our case, from childhood.

It is a good article, Colleen. We think we understand your primary points, made from your perspective and experience, as it is for all of us. this is why I pray daily for all the Adventists, especially those who are beginning to feel disatisfied, hungry for more; praying they will soon discover all that they long for and miss is all to be found in Christ Jesus. He IS the Gospel. He IS "the" Truth. He is the WAY!
He is ALL [Col 3:11].

Oh it is so beautiful, so freeing, to discover it is "all" in Jesus!

And Laurie, in spite of our individual lack of understanding all the theology, all the "jots and tittles," isn't it exciting to know we are continually growing in that understanding, and the taste of the Bread of Life becomes sweeter almost on a daily basis. And as the idea of the living reality of our being NOW, adopted children of the FATHER, brothers and sisters of Jesus Himself in this mystical-spiritual-mysterious union; is just awesome. Truly we ARE a children of the KING!

With Colleen I shout Praise God!

Soli Deo Gloria
Jess
