Hey guys. I was just on the phone with my mom who's still brainwashed by Adventism. Well, anyways. I had called to talk to my sister, but as always my mom picks up the phone. She started talking to me about the state of the dead and how one's soul ceases to exist when we die and then I referred her to Revelations 6:9-11 and she told me that the souls that were talking was a symbol and wasn't a literal thing. She says that the fifth seal already happened and that those souls died during the inquisition during the dark ages. I completly doubt that it's about that.

Another point we touched was of course about ellen g. white and I said I don't believe in her any more and she knows that. I told her that ellen g white says things that the bible doesn't say and she told me that the bible was written at a time when the roman catholic era of inquisition, the bible wasn't written straightforward so that it wouldn't get destroyed. She said that ellen g white speaks in more detail because it was revealed to her by God. An example she gave me of this was that the Bible doesn't mention what color David's hair is, but ellen g white says that david's hair is dark and jonathan's was blonde and I told her but if the bible doesn't say that, that means God felt that it was not neccessary for us to know. There are things that God hasn't revealed to us because it's not for us to know. She said and that's where ellen g white comes in and God revealed to her certain detailed information that the Bible doesn't say. And I asked her "so you're saying that the Bible doesn't tell us everything we need to know?" And she kept repeating the same thing. I told her, mom you can't believe everyone that says they've got a revelation from God to be from God, because in His Word He tells us to test the spirits. Just because they speak of God doesn't mean they were sent by Him.

Well then here is where it goes down hill. She told me if you have doubts against ellen g white the devil has put a spirit of doubt in you and you have let wordly people teach wrong things. I told her I study by myself with the spirit of God to help me discern. No on is "brainwashing" me. She said you sound like the illuminati's and the freemasoners who doubt everything why don't you just go and join a satanic church. I told her you don't realize you're in one yourself? I told her ellen g white's experiences with visions sound like she had a demonic experience going on with her getting paralyzed and feeling weak after a vision without fasting before. A spirit manifests in her and she falls into a trance and has a vision of an angel translating her into other lands to show her something, sounds like Joseph smith to me and other's who claim they have a spirit guide. And she told me you can't doubt ellen like that if you don't wanna believe in her until the return of Jesus I feel for you.

Lord, I'm dealing with the spirit of demons teaching demonic doctrines and mom is completely wrapped up in it. She accused my just like I read ellen white do whenever no one would believe her visions. She called me an apostate, filled with the spirit of satan, and told me because of people like you she had those visions because thy didn't wanna believe. I was like I only believe in the Word of God which is infallible and it's the only truth I need to know the Truth. God's word is sufficient with me, so what's wrong in only believing in His Word? She said all prophets are from God. I just said not all are. We'll never get along. People please pray for me. Every time I talk to my mom we have all these ugly arguments about ellen g. white whenever the bible is discussed. Please pray for me with this. My and I have never gotten along. The enemy has used her all of my life and now is when I realize it. It's really sad. I tell her these things because I hate to see her get lost because of the deceptions of Ellen G. white. It saddens and angers me that so many have been lead astray by her and still hold on to her even of their is enough evidence of it being so. I'm heartbroken right now.

Dear Luzisbornagain,

Welcome!

You are not alone in all these feelings and the agro your mom gives you. I and many of us here have dealt with the same things from a parent and the same accusations against our faith in Christ. It is hard and the tension just grips one up. It is heartbreaking because the way Adventism separates people from Christ is tragic.

But Christ is with you and he has overcome the World, which throws this junk at you. Cling to Him.

For what it is worth, I have found that the best and most peaceful way with my dad is to never discuss religion with him because he is so brainwashed into Ellen. It just leads to strife and I feel terrible later. I pray for him and try to live the Gospel of love. Live it loud. God enables us to do this especially when it is hard.

Praying for you~

Thank you Cathy for those words. Right now i'm going through a very heavy spiritual battle involving my family. Very strong demonic grip on my family and now worse because I'm Born again. I'm just a babe in Christ. I've only been born again since March 16 of this year and my sister is thinking about coming over on friday. My sister was adventist to but she took the opposite route. She's now lost in the world, has tattoos, piercings, she's an alcoholic, smokes weed and now all of a sudden is a lesbian. I want to witness to her but she told my roommate she wants nothing to do with God or religion. What can I do while she's here? Should I fast and pray? I don't know. Is there any experienced born again Christian that can help me understand what to do? Please I need all the prayers I can get. I need the spirit of the Lord with me on this one cause I sure am dealing with principalities of the world in high places.

Luzisbornagain, my heart goes out to you, I pray that the Lord will watch over your mind as you handle your family, Cathy has a good point, you might tell your Mom "Mom, I just don't want to discuss it right now".

Father, I pray right now that you will watch over Luzisbornagain, I pray that you will put a hedge round about him/her in the now and future days ahead.

Father put a protection over him/her even as you did me.
I pray that you will give him/her the peace that passes all our understanding and that you will bless him/her right now.
I pray this in Jesus name.
Luzisbornagain, are you a him or a her? So I know more who I am praying for?
Don't guess it matters a great detail but it makes me uncomfortable to use him/her.
Gods blessing on your life this day.

I agree with this advice. This is what my wife has had to do with her Mom. Getting into a debate is not going to win anyone's heart. When God softens her heart, you may be able to enter into meaningful dialogue again, but in the meantime, you'll just have to pray for her and love her. But remember, love does not mean being true to your own self and what you believe.

River, I'm a her. I truly appreciate your prayer and all of you guy's advice. Before this discussion with my mom we had agreed not to speak about religion and I told her today that I do not want to talk about ellen g white or anyhting like that and she kept on insulting me. we're dealing with evil spirits here, so the prayer is truly well needed. thanks. I poured my tears out to Him and feel at peace right now. Praise the Lord for He is truly good. And thanks that I have a family in Christ. Amen.

Oops, my editing is so terrible sometimes. What I meant to say is that love does not mean giving up being true to your own self and what you believe.

Luz, I know how hard it is to resist entering an argument with a parent who incites and makes trouble. I have watched this happen with my husband and his mom. She will be the one to bring up the "stuff" sometimes--and she sort-of draws one in...

It is very hard to resist, but Luz, the power of Jesus will help you to refuse to eneter the argument. Just absolutely don't become involved. You can tell her that you do not wish to discuss religion because it leads to arguing.

Regarding your sister's visit...I believe your main anchor is to trust Jesus. Stay in His word and pray...but you do not need to be afraid. He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. Ask Jesus to protect you from decetpion and evil and to guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. You can ask Him to give you wisdom and to soften your sister's heart. Just remember that you do not have to change your sister. You just have to trust Jesus and stay anchored in Him.

Dear Father, please give Luz peace in her heart. Help her to be able to surrender her mom and sister to you and to know that You will take care of them. Protect her during her sister's visit, and help her to stay anchored in You and trusting You. Please soften her sister's heart, and help her to see the difference in Luz. Thank you for what you are doing in Luz's life and for the fact that You will glorify Yourself in and through her. We praise You for being our Savior! In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thanks you guys. I truly do appreciate all of your comments. Tears are rolling down my eyes right now, because it is so refreshing to have people that understand the true spritual battle that we face as followers of Christ and truly I feel alone because the people I'm surrounded by were the people I was surrounded by before I was born again and it's hard. I'm glad I found this place to share and testify about what Jesus has done for me and I'm truly living this verse: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Cor. 5:17

Thanks Colleen for those words. It's so true. Relying on Jesus is what I need to do. It's so great to have a wonderful Savior by our side placing our burdens in His hands.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Matthew 11:28-30. Amen

Hi Luz,

I have had to deal with the tears and accusations.. it does get better. I'm 25 plus years out from my conversion out of the SDA church, my mom is still SDA. The heat and firewords have subsided, but we still have some friction because of it, She has never given up on getting me 'back in church'. I feel bad for her, mostly she is getting older and doesn't seem to have any peace, so I try to be a good daughter and love her without compromising my own beliefs. Hard to do sometimes, I've posted a rant or two on this forum.

You have my prayers, God Bless.

Hey MarysRoses. yeah, I know what you mean about your mom seeming she doesn't have peace, my mom doesn't have peace herself. Growing up, I've always noticed that about her. She's always angry and bitter. Two things that shouldn't take place when Christ is in your heart. You know and every time I see her like that I just want to reach out to her because I know she's missing out on that peace you have in Christ. But then it truns into an argument because she just doesn't agree. But oh well. My prayers go out to you, too.

Luz, you say your sister is coming to visit you. Will she do things in your home that you do not approve of? If she will, you will have to tell you what your boundaries are and stick to them, even if it means that she not visit. Pray about it. I have a prayer for you in the prayer section.
Yes, what is going on is spiritual warfare. I know that very well. Thank God it is not about my change in my religious beliefs.
I will continue to pray for you and your family.

Luzisbornagain,

Keep in mind that most Adventists are subjects of what they've been told to believe. They do not study their Bibles without the obvious filters of EGW, the SS lessons, Review, etc. In short, they do not know what they believe. Pray that the Holy Spirit will wake your family up to questions that demand answers from heartfelt searching.

Luz, I just prayed for you.
Christ WILL help you through this just stick with Him and the Bible only as it looks like you are doing.

Not many of my family knows I left Adventism. My son left with me and my wife has been a lot cooler about it than I expected.

My side of the family aren't Adventists so there's no problem there. My wife's side of the family are hard-core Adventist who are pretty much EGW thumpers. Most of her side of the family are in Indonesia and don't know yet, but when they do, oh boy. I'm mainly keeping silent about it for my wife;s sake as I fear they would blame her.

It looks tough what you're going through but Christ will help you. One thing that might be good is to just not talk about religion with your mother right now but just SHOW her you have a closer Christian walk since leaving Adventism.
That's what I've been doing with my wife and it seems to be working for me. She wasn't too happy at first when I was leaving Adventism, she called me a rebel(that's where I got my screen name Reb from) said Satan was working on me, etc., etc. She also said EGW was needed to explain the Bible so people didn't get "lost"

I've stood my ground, shown her love and patience, and showed her a better Christian walk and she's starting to come around.

I will continue to pray for you. Cling to Christ, He won't let you down.
