I recently took an Adventist friend to a NASCAR race in Michigan last month. It rained out and I didnt see them race until Tuesday of that week. As you all know, Little Debbie is an Adventist deal. Little Debbie sponsors a car in the Nextel Cup Series. Nextel Cup is the top level of racing in NASCAR.

Little Debbie has a stipulation with the team that when the car is on the race track on Saturday they cannot have the logo's on the car. I think that is stupid, but it is there thing. The Air Force loves it because they get free coverage on Saturday. For those who don't know, NASCAR qualifies the cars on friday and practices on Saturday and races on Sunday. (Perfect way- Church on Sunday morning and get home in time for the race!!!)

The team is just sponsored by Little Debbie and has nothing else to do with Adventism other than the Debbie sponsor.

This is a quote from Autoweek:
"Little Debbie sponsorship note: The #21-Wood Brother's part time sponsor, Little Debbie snacks, is run by Seventh Adventists. From sundown Friday till sundown Saturday, the team has to cover all Little Debbie logos on the hauler, wear non-L. D. attire and remove all L. D. livery from the race car.(Autoweek)(3-16-2006)"

I think that is stupid. If you can't have your stuff on the race car in practice on Saturday then don't sell it on Saturday! The hypocrisy in Adventism is pretty lame. I know its just NASCAR, but this is pretty sad.

My dad tried to get me to read that booklet by the Adventist pastor relative of Dale Earnhardt but I just gave it back to him and said I really wasnt that interested. I mean what was it going to say, "I shared the Sabbath with Dale?"
Darrell Waltrip said it the best, "Dale had faith. It was just not as vocal as some."

I really think that anything Adventism touches just messes it up. Any thoughts?

Convoluted, confusing and hypocritical. Then all these Little Debbie items are full of sugar.
But that is beside the point. It is still convoluted, confusing and hypocritical.
Our God is awesome and does not do things in a convoluted, confusing, hypocritical way.

So why don't they require all retailers to pull their Little Debbie snack cakes from the shelves between Friday night sundown and Saturday night sundown so Little Debbie doesn't contribute to Sabbath sales, and personally benefit as well? At a bare minimum they should require all retailers to keep a record of all snack cakes sold during the Sabbath hours and turn all the profits from those cakes into the "Lord's Treasury".

I went to college at Southern (Missionary College) and am intimately familiar with the McKee operation. It is a classic example of the hypocrisy in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Their snack cakes in no way, shape, or form constitute anything remotely healthy!

We used to joke about how if Budweiser gave tithe money to the church on their profits, the Seventh-day Adventist church would find some way to rationalize that too.

Well, Gilbert, Adventism never really saw the profit to be made in Paul's advice to Timothy about drinking wine for his stomach problems... it's that one lucrative piece of Biblical health advice which Adventism missed. Think of the "evangelism" they could've done during prohibition! :-)

Little Debbie's is just full of fluff, just like the SDA church and its doctrines, highly preserved "White" fluff.

Hey guys,

Nicole, Dale was NOT an adventist. Thank goodness he never was! Adventist's should just stick to what ever they are peddling. Stay away from my sport!!

Olga,

My wife and I attended our second non-sda church potluck yesterday. Man you cannot believe the meat dishes on the tables! There was every manner of fried chicken, all sorts of pork yummies and just about everything else. I remarked to the wife how sda's would go nuts about a potluck like this!

But the core thought we both had was that sda's have their:

Fake food
Fake doctrines
Fake Gospel
Fake prophet
Fake sins (via the fake prophet)
Fake Bible (clear wird)
Fake friendship (if you do not believe this, just leave their church for doctrinal reasons!)

Oh, they had corn on the cob too. I am a big sucker for corn!!!

Larry, Isn't it great to be where all is real, especially the reality of Jesus Christ. Praise God for that. He is so awesome.

Although, Larry, I left the SDA church for purely doctrinal reasons and my friends there did not turn against me. Some of them have even told me they respect my courage in this matter. (Maybe they, in their heart of hearts know Adventism is false?)

Nicole, just to clearup any confusion,Dale was a Baptist and gave to the Southern Baptist Convention I believe. Some guy who was apparently Dale's cousin or something wrote a book (tryin to cash in on Dale's popularity)he claimed he knew Dale pretty good when he was a kid and tried to witness to him later on in life after he became an SDA.Dale never responded to the SDA message and so according to the author Dale was lost.I read the book and still have it,although it was totally Bogus. It was called Victory Lane and was written by Crystal Earnhardt. Its a story about her husband John.He started out as a Methodist and then turned SDA.In this book they explain how only the ceremonial laws were nailed to the cross and the book goes on to tell the story of how they were deceived into becoming SDA's.On page 105 of the book is a letter that John wrote to Dale witnessing to him but Dale's only response was an autographed pic he sent back to him.The book makes a big deal about Dale makin alot of money and bein divorced a couple of times

John Earnhardt is Dale's cousin, and is a pastor and evangelist in the SDA church. He was interim pastor at the SDA church that holds my membership down here in the Carolina Conference (NASCAR country!). Dale was never an SDA.

I think John drew lots of crowds with his last name (and I'm sure the SDA church doesn't mind that a bit!).

Edited to add: similar to how Clifton Davis was paraded around, Mickey Rooney was studying with the Adventists and LOOK! Paul Harvey is now a SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST!

Hi Jody,

Officially, on the books of the church I am still a member. Where it counts, I am no longer an SDA. I left the church in 1998 and have only visited rarely when I'm visiting my best friend. I've never looked back and so glad I now have a relationship with Jesus based on the bible alone!

I have been convicted to have my name removed. I'm planning to write a letter to the church board and request my name be removed before the end of this year.

How about you, Jody?

SusanS, I hope your journey to have your name removed will be easier then mine was. I had to threaten the church and conference with court action before they responded( I have a cousin who is Jewish and an attorney and he was all set to take on the church for free)!! Stick to your guns, keep after them and they will eventually remove your name. The ONLY reason I know they voted to remove mine is because my wife is still a member.

Sorry SusanS for not replying sooner I been kinda busy.I grew up around the SDA church,my parents were kinda in and out of church and so was I.The seeds of Adventism were planted in me however and so when i truly experienced God's grace and began to study his Word I said good bye to Seventh Day Adventism. My Father is a member and so is my grandmother and my aunt.I have to be on my toes often to defend my faith.Of course my grandmother pretty much figures i am lost or at least very confused.

Ironically I now attend an Advent Christian Church, they are a splinter group from the Millerite movement which is actually Biblical. They do hold two distinctives being soul sleep and anniahilation.I do not neccesarily believe either doctrine. Those distinctives is not what they are all about however.Overall i respect the denomination, but I may not be attending the church much longer because of a recent church split.(Thats another story)
