I was searching and I found an edition of A lecture to young men on chastity by Sylvester Graham, since 1837.
Take a look at that, doing the download "scan 1-100", "scan 101-200" and "scan 201-250".
I canīt understand how a sda can believe she was a prophetess.

quote:

The state of the world was presented before me [in vision????], and my attention was especially called to the youth of our time. Everywhere I looked, I saw imbecility, dwarfed forms (An Appeal to Mothers - 1864)

Lordsanointed,

Adventism teaches that we live and die just like animals. Let me explain this strange notion that atheists and evolutionists can readily agree with. According to SDA views, we do not have a material and immaterial side as a dualistic being. The dualistic nature of man makes him very special as the image-bearer of God himself. God did not intimately breathe a soul or spirit into the nostrils of animals, birds, reptiles, etc. He merely decreed their physical existence. However, human beings have the unique distinction and honor of being the crowning act of creation.

For example, we were taught that sexual desire is an "animal" instinct ("lower passion") that can be excited by what we drink and eat--even by eggs and meat. Of course, we now know that Ellen White merely reflected the nineteenth-century "vitalism" theories of Sylvester Graham and others. Oh yes, lest we forget, the inventors of graham crackers and dry cereal were certain this would somehow help to stifle the "animal" passions in human beings.

Moreover, Adventists claim to die just like an animal or a fallen sparrow. The only supposed difference being that they are in the memory of God. Actually, according to Scripture, we learn that even the sparrows are in God's watchful care as well. However, since no part of them survives their physical death (being one physical unit), Adventists claim to be totally nonexistent at the point of death.

They further claim the dead are "GONE, GONE" with no continuity of personhood and no part of them being alive. How can one await the call of the Lifegiver when nonexistent? Adventists often use the phrase, "awaiting the call of the Lifegiver" in their obituary columns. Not even God can resurrect a person who doesn't exist.

Thanks for sharing the links that reveal the sexual theories of Ellen White being at least 30 years behind of her time.
