quote:

I saw that the time for Jesus to be in the Most Holy Place was nearly finished, and that time cannot last but a very little longer; and what leisure time we have should be spent in searching the Bible, which is to judge us in the last day.
Experience and Views (1850), page 46

Let the commandments of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ be in your minds continually, and let them crowd worldly thoughts and cares from the mind. When you lie down and when you rise up let them be your meditation. Live and act wholly in reference to the coming of the Son of man. The sealing time is very short, and soon will be over.
Experience and Views (1850), page 47

Said my accompanying angel, "Time is almost finished. Do ye reflect the lovely image of Jesus as ye should?" Then I was pointed to the earth, and saw that there would have to be a getting ready among those who have of late embraced the third angel's message. Said the angel, "Get ready, get ready, get ready. Ye will have to die a greater death to the world than ye have ever yet died." I saw that there was a great work to do for them, and but little time to do it in.
Experience and Views (1850), page 52

I saw that some of us have had time to get the truth, and to advance step by step, and every step we have taken has given us strength to take the next. But now time is almost finished, and what we have been years learning, they will have to learn in a few months. And they will have to unlearn much, and learn again. And those who will not receive the mark of the beast and his image, when the decree goes forth, must have decision now to say, nay, we will not regard the institution of the beast.
Experience and Views (1850), page 55

That first quote is really interesting to me. I don't know how many times in Sabbath School I heard about how if we're spending time doing things of our own pleasure, we will be accountable for that. If we had an hour to waste sitting watching television we would be accountable for why we didn't spend that hour with God. I used to be too scared to turn on the television sometimes after hearing about how evil it was.

Maree, I believed the same thing when I was an SDA. It was so good, not feel guilty all the time. I like that statement Gilbert, "The truth is the road to freedom."

Speaking of time ....

Any time the sda profit mentions "time", you can be assured she is deceiving. That is because she and James participated in, and called Millers time-setting a perfect chain of truth (of God), and never repented of it.

In the second quote, the sealing is happening, Revelation style, and is "very short" and would soon be over. In the context of her fourth quote, that would be mere months (it has been 1585 months now!). Add up the pieces and it is an attempt at timesetting again, just not a final day and hour. It does have time elements in it though. To a deceived adventist, it is "all from God" and they do not question it.

What really gets me tickled is the 1856 prophecy:

quote:

"I was shown the company present at the Conference. Said the angel: 'Some food for worms, some subjects of the seven last plagues, some will be alive and remain upon the earth to be translated at the coming of Jesus.'" (Testimonies, Vol. 1, p. 131)

whiteestate apologists {deceivers} fall all over themselves to make this out to be a "conditional" prophecy.

Firstly, timesetting merely involves a certain space of time. For instance if somebody said "Jesus will come in the next 9 hours", that is timesetting. Likwise, if somebody says "Jesus is coming in the next 700,800 hours (80 years)" it is still timesetting.

Secondly, Jesus returning to earth is NOT conditional upon what man is or is not doing. It is a fixed time which God knows, and has never changed. It would only keep changing if God did not know the end from the beginning. That describes the god that the whiteestate knows, as His coming is conditional. Apparently Jesus doesn't know exactly when He is coming, because "His people" might not have performed well.

egw even wrote:

quote:

"The power of man cannot hasten the work...though all the workmen now bearing the heaviest burdens should be laid aside, God's work would be carried forward". Testimonies Vol. 7, p. 298

Third, the Bible states that angels do not know the time of Jesus return either. In this "I was shown" statement (vision!) she has an angel saying he knows that within these 700,800 hours some of those people present would be "subjects of the seven last plagues" and "some will be alive and remain upon the earth to be translated". This supposedly from an angel of God. We now know that she was not attended to by angels of God.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matthew 24:36

Who is it that is responsible for the formation of the SDA church?

Great points, Larry. Love the distortion sentence, too!

Busymom, I can't take credit for the statement, "The truth is the road to freedom."

I shamelessly stole it from one of Colleen's posts. It was too good to let go to waste! Colleen has so many good quotes. She could publish them in a book.

You're totally welcome, Gilbert. What's written here is for the sake of the gospel. I love seeing that sentence above your continuous calendar count from 1844...
