Ask An Adventist - Adventism Question #7

Here is a question to ask your Adventist friends:
If Adventism is just another Protestant denomination, why the secrecy and doublespeak?

They need to hide Ellen White until they've had a chance to explain all their peculiar doctrines. Once the new convert to Adventism has swallowed all the explanations; THEN they can safely spring her on them and they can swallow her too.

The sad thing is, that many Christians don't really know their Bibles and they can be taken in by various cults that "appear" to know the Bible.

The sad thing is that so many cults, especially Adventism, are so deviously close to the Bible that innocent folks are sucked in.

Even if you know your Bible well, once you're in the cult, you know somewhere in your spirit that something isn't right, but it's a real challenge to refute the sophistry you're hearing every week. I know it's rare, but even seminary-trained pastors can get sucked in.

Putting the blame on the victims of a cult is, in my humble opinion, just as wrong as blaming innocent children for allowing themselves to be molested.

I know there are those on this forum who disagree with me on this, but I would submit to you that I speak from experience on both counts. My child was molested by a relative and I was sucked into Adventism. It took me sixteen years to get back out. If you've not had the experience, then your opinions are based on speculation.
Remember that we are told that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Our enemy is not our lack of training in Biblical hermeneutics. Our enemy is a horrendously evil spiritual kindom full of heinous wickedness.

Our Advocate and Savior is well able to protect and save His own, even if they have been molested by the evil kingdom through the sophistry and manipulation of a cult.

Strong City Cult is a perfect example of what you talk about. They babble Ellen White and misquote the Bible and engage in "virgin" consumations." It is utterly impossible for them to see that what they believe is not what the Bible really teaches.

Practically speaking, it is far easier to warn people to stay out of Adventism in the first place.

I believe just the opposite. Nobody is born innocent. It is our fault that we are born damned, dead, and it is God's option to show mercy to who He will, and to harden who He will. I cannot blame God for not saving someone. He is sovereign.

So true, Honestwitness. We come into this world trusting our parents, who in turn taught us to trust pastors, who in fact are marketing themselves professionally just like medical doctors, lawyers and accountants do, and I submit, should be held to the same high ethical standards. That dosn't mean that they are all honest, but we have a sacred duty to expose paid Adventist leaders who preach the devil's lies while getting paid sacred tithe money. In most cases these spiritual leaders of God's flock know that they are teaching falsehoods -- or should if they diligently searched the Scriptures. Amazingly, now that I have left Adventism and joined mainstream Christianity the pastors where I attend actively encouraged us to question what they teach us, and to validate it from God's Word. That is a far cry from the submissive "Pastors know God's Word best" attitude that we are taught -- like you pointed above -- from cradle to grave in Adventism. That is but one more glaring indication of Adventism's cultic mindset.

I am eternally grateful for a God that loves me so much that he cut through the Adventist fog to lead me out of spiritual darkness in high places.

Eternally grateful,

Gilbert Jorgensen
