Shall we go with dictionary definitions, that we might not slip into the babylon of redefining and confusion that sda's surely will bring about?

1 : renunciation of a religious faith
2 : abandonment of a previous loyalty : defection

I don't know exactly what faith James White gave up/defected from to become a heretic, but we do know that ellen white was apostate to Methodist faith.

And she aposticised many times from justification by faith alone.

For her to teach (via private interpretations) that God moved into different rooms in 1844 is to teach a different god, agreed? Not to mention a different gospel.

Check this out: If your brother ... or your closest friend ... entices you secretly, saying, 'Come let us worship other gods**'... do not assent or give heed to him ... but take his life - Deuteronomy 13:7,9,10

**Teaching that God did things He did NOT do is teaching other gods.
