Exposing Adventism - Satan's Electric Currents

Is it, or is it not?
Satanic agents claim to cure disease. They attribute their power to electricity, magnetism, or the so-called sympathetic remedies, while in truth they are but channels for Satan's electric currents. By this means he casts his spell over the bodies and souls of men.--ST, Mar 24, 1887. (Ev 609)

Our electric battery, which has been out of repair, is now in working order; and what relief it brings in sickness! Just as the prunes were ready to pick, Brother James was seized with an attack of what he calls lumbago. He had severe pains in his back, and could neither stand straight, nor bend down far enough to unlace his shoes. Sara gave him electricity, Sister James helping where she could. But Sister James was afraid of the battery, and would not touch the sponges. At first Brother James could hardly endure the application of the electricity, but Sara persevered, and wonderful relief came to him. He now thinks that electricity is a marvelous remedy. After the first application, he was able to walk straighter than he had been able to for days, and he continued to improve. Sara has given him electricity three times a day, and he has been able to keep at his work. (7MR 118.1)

An agent of the great deceiver will say and do anything to gain his object. It matters little whether he calls himself a spiritualist, an "electric physician," or a "magnetic healer." By specious pretenses he wins the confidence of the unwary. He pretends to read the life history and to understand all the difficulties and afflictions of those who resort to him. (2MCP 700.3)

Disguising himself as an angel of light, while the blackness of the pit is in his heart, he manifests great interest in women who seek his counsel. He tells them that all their troubles are due to an unhappy marriage. This may be too true, but such counsel does not better their condition. He tells them that they need love and sympathy. Pretending great interest in their welfare, he casts a spell over his unsuspecting victims, charming them as the serpent charms the trembling bird. Soon they are completely in his power, and sin, disgrace, and ruin are the terrible sequel.--CTBH 116, 1890. (2MCP 700.4)

I am now suffering some with my lungs on account of cold. I took an electric bath last night and slept at the institute. (19MR 367.1)

When I read EGW, as above, I just get confused. What is she saying?
Thankful I no longer believe in her.

Ever get the idea EGW was the 19th century version of Church Lady from Saturday Night Live?

I see how EGW's train of thought evolved, first identifying the electric currents as Satan's tool, but later approves as she assists and even partakes of it in her life. Could it be the electric bathing is using the thermal hot springs?

Now why, exactly, are Adventists NOT still promoting electric baths and shock therapy for lumbago and various ills? After all, the prophet has spoken.

Richard and I were recently in an Adventist Book Center for a couple of publications we needed to share with someone...and there is a book—the title escapes me right now, but it was published I believe in 2006—defending EGW's health message. The subtitle was something on this order: New research proves Ellen White did not plagiarize the health message...

Ahem.

Electric shock, anyone?

Has anyone heard of any Adventist authors promoting the idea of healing electrical energy coming out of the ground, as another reason for Adventists to work in the soil?
