"Inspiration" tells us,
"In order to let Jesus into our hearts, we must stop sinning." (Signs of the Times, March 3, 1888).

Pharisees tried that approached, and they ended up killing the One who could save them from their sin.

Didn't she also say Christ's righteousness is imputed only to the obedient?

If these statements are true, no one on earth has any hope

An EGW-loyalist SDA once advised me that this "stop sinning so you can be saved" philosophy is no different than scraping the baked-on crust off the baking pan before you put it in the dishwasher. The pan comes out cleaner from the dishwasher if you knock the bulk off first.

It made sense at the time but, in retrospect, I see how it completely denies the Gospel. As if we can clean ANYTHING off our souls!

It only goes to show you that the SDA church doesnt understand what really happened on the Cross of Calvary. They will never understand as long as they put EGW first and the Bible last.

There is that veil spoken of in 2 Cor 3. Only God can remove it. As Animal said, "gotta love the Bible!!!"

These folks simply will not read the Bible for what it teaches, instead they employ Eisegesis by starting with false preconceptions and ‘proof text’ them into ‘ the truth’. Quite simply, it’s unbelief, and prevents them from receiving the promise of the Holy Spirit given to BELIEVERS, hence the veil. Until they accept the evidence, as provided by her own pen, that Ellen is a false prophet, they will remain in darkness.

I believe that Historic Adventists have a better chance at repudiating Ellen than the Progressive Adventists, the smorgasbord approach (as represented by the majority of Adventist posters; conveniently excusing the false because they feel some is true) to her writings pretty much precludes them making a definitive decision while the Historic, once accepting that statements made by her are false, would more likely conclude that she is false. What say you?

Agreed John. As long as it's all jello, it's never wrong. We were immersed in a very historic church when we left, and I'm positive that helped alot.

John, I completely agree. Richard has said to me for years that the historic Adventists are more likely to recognize the true gospel when they hear it than the modern progressives are—because the historic Adventists are more honest. They actually believe Adventism and try to live it. The progressives are simply making compromises in their heads and refusing to believe in absolute truth.

Their lack of seeing is because of unbelief—as was ours. We had to be awakened from our abysmal lack of trust in God and His promises.
