Praise God, Toria. I have also been praying for you, that God will sustain you and bring His strength and health to you. What a blessing that your strength and pain level are so much better. Praying still...

Hi Diana & Colleen,
I am always greatful for the times when I do not have a lot of pain, as it drains my energy and I am trying to get my body strong enough to handle the treatments I may need this summer.

I try to get to Bible study as often as possible. Last week I was told that two of the members have daughters that are being tested and that one will likely need surgery and possibly treatments. One of them told me that, in the midst of all the worry, he gets hope and encouragement from me. The other agreed with him.
I know that I get a lot of support/energy from being with all of them. We praise God with song and prayer, and then get into the Word. I did not realize that God's care of me gave hope to others. Praise Him.
I have placed those two ladies on my prayer list, along with the families. Could you also include them in yours?

I know how powerful prayer really is, and am aware of and very greatful for yours. I realize that my Bible study group, and some of you folks on here have become a big part of my support group. Probably because, of all the folks I know, you are the ones who pray. I thank you and I thank HIM for leading me to you.

Blessings,
Toria

Toria, I will add those two people to my prayer list. I am so glad you are here and are a part of my Christian family. I am always amazed and awed at the large family God has in this world. I never had family like this as an adventist.

We are like a big family aren't we. Maby that is why I feel easy 'talking' with you and running to you for prayer and support during some of life's moments.

God Bless you and thank you for your prayers on behalf of my friends.

I have not been as active in the forum as I had planned. I still have that as a goal. One of the reasons is that I have been going through a very difficult time. I realize I should have come to you sooner but ...
Just a bit of background. We just "celebrated" our 25th anniv. the last of Dec. During those 25 years we have been through some terrible times. those who have been personally involved with alcohol abuse can appreciate the experience. It was only by God's power that about ten years ago I stopped without involving support groups or organizations. My wife continued getting worse by the day. She was a public school teacher and to show how bad things were getting, one day I got a call from the school to come and get her because she was drunk. To make a long story short, she went through three in-patient treatment programs. The first two only had short term effects. The bottom was finally reached when one evening in a drunken bout, she asked me to take her to emergency because she felt like she was going to die. By the next day she was in the third treatment program. This time it took hold. I have been through those horrible years with her giving her support and encouragement, knowing that one day when she hit bottom, she would turn her life around. She has been sober for the last 8-10 years.
New Year's day she informed me she was leaving and moving back to Mi. She has moved out taking most of the furnishings with her.
I am 72 years old and feel like I am in a black hole and cannot see any as if there is a way out. Other than His presence, and strength, I don't know what to pray for. I don't feel His presence or assurance that He will get me through this. I feel that He answers others prayers, abut feel I'm not getting through at all.
I'm asking for your prayers.

HI Clyderp

I'm sure from your from your previous posts, that you have given your heart to Jesus and accepted him as your Savior. He has promised that he will never leave us or forsake us. Phillipians 1:4-6 says that HE, who has begun an good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. His promises never fail.

No matter where we see ourselves, He sees us through His love and grace.

I have no idea what God has in mind that will assist you in your situation but I pray for you.

Clyderp,
As Jdpascal said, Jesus promises he will never leave us for forsake us. Matt 28:20 says He will be with us until the end of the age. You may not feel His presence but He is with you. Believe Jesus.
I will pray for you and your wife.

Oh Clyde,

I wish I could sit with you a spell and cry. I am so sorry to hear of the tragedy you are currently going through.

Thank you for sharing with us, such a deeply personal loss. It is an honor to pray for you.

"Lord, our brother Clyde is hurting desperately. Please hold him through this dark valley. Bring him through this time, resting in you. Salve his wounds, as only you can. Amen."

With love in Christ, your sister,

Diana

Clyderp,

I have been where you are at so I know the pain. I will be praying and expecting God to work in both your life and that of your wife.

God worked a miracle with my wife and myself. He change us both and he can do the same for your marriage.

Rom. 15:5,6 KJV
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Clyderp,
Im glad you spoke up. Now we know how to pray. I am praying for the God of all comfort to intervene quickly.
Psalm 34 says God is very attentive to you, His eyes, ears, heart are turned toward you. It's a great psalm when you are hurting. I pray that you will experience His love for you. He is close to the brokenhearted.

Dear Clyde,

You're right, you should have come to us sooner - but that's OK. Now that you're here, please don't stay away.

Sometimes the pain is so intense it's hard to feel the love of Jesus and the comfort of the Holy Spirit (I know that from experience), but remember that He promised to never leave or forsake you.

Jesus is there and He loves you so much. I'm praying that Jesus will hold you tight and that the Holy Spirit will work mightily in your life.

Your wife made some choices she'll probably regret, but you hang on tight to Jesus. Whether you feel it or not, He is there for you! Stay on the altar as His child and let Him do His work in and through you.

God has a plan that will give you a future and a hope. This is not the end and you are not without hope. Moses told the Israelites to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. You wait on the Lord and watch Him work, too. He is your source. He is your provider. Hang on to Jesus with all your might and don't let go.

Colleen says all the time that God redeems everything. She's right! Right now all you see is the pain - and it sounds pretty intense. I pray that the Holy Spirit will make His presence known in your life tonight.

These Psalms are favorites of mine. I hope they're an encouragement to you tonight. Psalm 37, 27, 121, 51, 61, 62, 63

Please know that you are and will be in my thoughts and prayers. You are loved, by Jesus and us. You are not alone.

Your sister in Christ,

Joyfulheart

Dear Clyde,
While sometimes in our darkest days it may be difficult to feel His presence, know that He is near. As others have said, He has promised to never leave or forsake us. Trust Him to keep that promise.
Know that you are and will continue in my prayers.

Blessings,
Toria

I really don't know how to express my feelings at your responses to my request for your prayers. All I can say is that my heart was so touched all I could do was read them over and over and wonder at the love and concern expressed by complete strangers who are only connected to me by their love, faith and trust in God.
I would like to share an experience that, in a way, only adds to my feeling of despair at the moment.
We belong to a boating organization that gets together for rendezvous. At these events I would make it a point to visit one of the boats and Linda and I would discuss books we were reading of a spiritual nature. We traded books and then next time we got together would discuss them. Suddenly, her husband developed cancer of the esophagus. The usual treatments began and as we all watched he seemed to be responding and due to his absolutely indomitable spirit and optimism, all of who knew him had no doubt that he would whip this. For awhile we seemed to be right. All of a sudden, it hit him with a vengeance and within a very few days he was gone. During this time I talked to her about even though it doesn't look like it, or make sense, in time she would come to see how God had turned that tragedy into something she would look back on and see His hand in this experience.
At the funeral, I gave her a copy of Annie Lamont's (sp?) Traveling Mercies with a note of how I felt God had been with me throughout my life, and quoted a verse from that great old hymn He Leadeth Me. I have not heard from her since. From mutual friends I heard she became very bitter and couldn't understand why God had done this, or allowed it, and said she just could not forgive Him.
Evaluating my own heart, I don't have any thoughts of God being responsible for my current situation. But I do have the feeling of being abandoned. Your prayers have meant a great deal and I'm still praying that somehow God will show Himself to me, and the words I so effortlessly shared with my friend will become a reality for me.
I covet your continuing prayers.

Clyde,

When you find yourself with no words let yourself rest in God's hands, knowing that you have brothers and sisters who are praying for you all around the world. Know also that the Father Himself loves you. He has you in His hands and in His heart. He has not brought you this far to drop you. No matter how far away He seems He is closer than breathing.

I have experienced the exhaustion of heartbreak and despair. I have felt abandoned and hard used (still do sometimes!). I didn't get to go around or over those dark times but the relationship I now have with God could not have been gotten by detouring around and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Be still and know.

Blessings,

Mary

PS: Glad you're here. I look forward to your continued posts and seeing you settle in here in our virtual home.

Clyde, I will continue to pray for you and your marriage and for your friend Linda. I had a rough 6 years when I had chronic fatigue syndrome and had insomnia 5 of those years. After God healed me, I saw that He had CARRIED ME. He will do the same for you and you will not realize it until it is all past.
He is with you until the end of the age. Matt 28:20.
He is awesome.

Clyde,

We serve a loving, prayer-answering God. There are no heartaches that heaven cannot heal. Truly, life in this world is not always fair, but God will make up to us for every tear someday soon. We can count on Him! I am praying for you, Clyde.

Clyde,

I'm praying that God will comfort and encourage you at this time. I was looking for a Psalm to recommend and just read Psalm 71...

(vs 2, 3) "Because you do what is right, save and rescue me; listen to me and save me. Be my place of safety where I can always come. Give the command to save me, because you are my rock and my strong, walled city..."

(vs 5, 6) Lord, you are my hope. Lord, I have trusted you since I was young. I have depended on you since I was born;...

(v12) "God don't be far off. My God, hurry to help me."

(vs 20, 21) "You have given me many troubles and bad times, but you will give me life again. When I am almost dead, you will keep me alive. You will make me greater than ever, and you will comfort me again."

(New Century Version)

From Psalm 56:

verse 3: "When I am afraid, I will trust you."

verse 8: "You have recorded my troubles. You have kept a list of my tears. Aren't they in your records?

verse 9: "On the day I call for help, my enemies will be defeated. I know that God is on my side."

vs. 10: "I praise God for his word to me; I praise the Lord for his word.

vs. 11: "I trust in God. I will not be afraid. What can people do to me?"

Also read Psalm 57 (A prayer in troubled times).

God is faithful and He is always near even when we can't feel his presence.

This is time to "hide under the shadow of" God's "wings until the trouble has passed." (from Psalm 57:1.

Hugs and prayers,

Olga

Clyde, I just saw your prayer request. I will be praying for you also. God is faithful; He wastes nothing that happens to us, and He redeems everything we submit to Him. He is faithful, even when we cannot feel Him. I am praying that Jesus will hold you.
