i will echo that adventism is more tolerant on the surface than beneath. how can you tell a deaf man to hear, or a blind man to see? you can only pray God works miracles in them.

anyone of more music in the heart they wanna share?

love, Chyna

Sherry,
I went to visit Gary's profile and found nude pictures under the interests section. I said something in passing about it and Colleen comes back telling that I am perverse or something and that I look for porn on the internet. Then she goes into some tirade about freeing me from whatever bondage she has mistakenly thought I am held in. I was extremely offended.

Hi Wendy,

Sometimes picking up a conversation is difficult!!! on a forum. Sometimes you HONESTLY think you have gone to the very beginning of a thought and didn't.

I CAN GUARENTEE YOU WITH MY CATS NECK ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK THAT COLLEEN IS HONEST AND HAS THE BIGGEST HEART ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH! (with a few other's in her company)

I personally, didn't think the....."but I am praying for you in the name of our Lord Jesus that you will find release from what binds you,"....... had anything to do with the big "P" of paragraph 1!!!!! That had to do with the conversations of the last "weeks";-) Many are praying for you on that count too!:-)

Absolutely serious.........Maryann

Wendy,

A lot of people don't want to believe this but I was taught I was saved by grace and that we could not work our way to heaven way back in the 50s. It was at Tampa Junior Academy and a bunch of us were being indoctrinated so we could be baptized. I can still see the room we were sitting in, ahh the memories.

I knew nothing about the argument until many years later and then wondered what the big deal was as no work we do before we are saved will do us any good and anything we do after we are saved is pure gravy (because we are already saved so it can't help save us).

I think you will agree that the only thing we must do before we can be saved is; believe, accept, and trust. We don't do these things to be saved, but they are the conditiond we must meet before we can be saved.

I said all this to lead up to this point. You said, "All I ask for everyone to consider is that when we accept grace, the works naturally follow because we do not want to be distant from God.
I agree that works naturally follow, but I don't think we do them so we wont be distant from God. I think we do them BECAUSE WE ARE CLOSE to God.

Well Patti, I was in the church a far shorter time than you, but my experiene was as yours. In the three churches that we attended, there were probably a total of 200 members. In all those folks, I can count on one hand the number who were willing to freely say, "yes I am saved." The rest would universally say, "well um, I am BEING saved." Well, "being saved" and "saved" are two totally different things. I have seen by e-mails sent to us and messages posted on the Internet that apparently there are still a heck of a lot of SDA's who still are trembling in their shoes and "hope that I've asked for forgiveness for all my sins and haven't forgotten any." Or say, "well, I HOPE to be in heaven."

Exactly so Terry. One can't be a committed adventist and experience the freedom that comes with assurance of salvation. It can't happen because of the Investigative Judgment doctrine. EGW's taught that your sins are not wiped away but instead saved up to be plopped back on your head if you mess up and don't repent before your death or Christ's return. There is no assurance in that. Besides, it's a very small God who would need lo these many many years to look over the books and make a judgment.

Personally I still have to chuckle at the explanation for that one. "Well, it isn't for God's sake. It's for the sake of the angels." Hello! Aren't these the same ones who are at the Lord's beck and call and obviously must have trust in Him? I believe we have been told in the Bible that the rest were kicked out already.

Here's what happened to the music:

O SINNERMAN!

O Sinnerman, where ya gonna run to?
O Sinnerman, where ya gonna run to?
O Sinnerman, where ya gonna run to?
All on-a that day?

Gonna run to the rock -- ìRock won't ya hide
me?î
Gonna run to the rock -- ìRock won't ya hide
me?î
Gonna run to the rock -- ìRock won't ya hide
me?î
All on-a that day?

Rock said, ìO Sinnerman, ainít-a gonna hide
ya!
O Sinnerman, ya know ah canít-a hide ya!
O Sinnerman, ainít no place ta hide ya!î
All on-a that day!

Then ah run to the stars -- stars be a-fallin'
Run to the moon -- moon be a-reddeniní
Run to the Lord -- Lord be a-cryin'
All on-a that day!

Lord said, "O Sinnerman, you shoulda been
a-prayin!î
"O Sinnerman, you shoulda been a-prayin!î
"O Sinnerman, you shoulda been a-prayin!î
All on-a that day!

ìSatan, Satan, Satan, won't ya hide me?
Satan, Satan, Satan, won't ya hide me?
Satan, Satan, Satan, won't ya hide me?î
All on-a that day!

Satan said, ìO Sinnerman, step right in!"
ìO Sinnerman, Be glad ta hide ya!"
ìO Sinnerman, most obliged ta hide ya!"
All on-a that day!

MISTER ROCK OF AGES

Mister Rock of Ages you got time on your
hands
Got no worries, got no plans
Bless my soul now you're doin' fine
You ain't got no axe to grind

Rock of Ages tell me where does it stand
Are we bound for the promised land
Bless my soul, I ain't ready to die
And my future is in your hands

Mister Rock of Ages you've been goin' on
strong
Since time began, til time is done
And so the tide shall run

Mister Rock of Ages tell me what do you see
Are we bound for eternity
Bless my soul, baby you're doin' fine
You ain't got no axe to grind

Rock of Ages you've got nothing to hide
Got no ego, got no pride
Bless my soul, let me do what I can
For my future is in your hands

Mister Rock of Ages, the lord of my lease
In times of toil and times of peace
Until my song shall cease

Mister Rock of Ages, I'm a part of you now
I am yours, you belong to be
Bless my soul, let me do what I can
For my future is in your hands

Here are two songs that I grew up knowing but cannot to save my life remember all the lyrics.

One is this:

"Oh rocka my soul, in the Bosom of Abraham
Rocka my soul, in the Bosom of Abraham
Rocka my soul, in the Bosom of Abraham
Ohhhhh Rocka my soul......"

The other song that keeps playing in my head is this one:

"Michael rowed the boat ashore, Allelujah,
Michael rowed the boat ashore, Alleluuujah,
Michael rowed the boat ashore, Allelujah,
Michael rowed the boat ashore, Alleluuujah..."

Does anyone out there know what denomination I may have recieved these from in my life?

And does anyone out there know ALL the lyrics or at least most of the lyrics to either or both songs?

If so, would you please put them here for me?

I thank you in advance.

God Bless you.
your sister in our Lord Jesus.

DtB, one who is remembering too little

I sang the Rocka my soul at camp in the Adventist denomination. That would of been back in the late 70's. I looked in several of my camp song books but could not find the entire song. I'll look some more later....I have accounting class this morning.

Denise, I am thinking that both of them are Black Spirituals. Both of them do reach into the heart don't they?

Hey both Denise and MaryAnn, it seems like its been a while. Welcome back to cyberworld.

Dear Violet,

Thank you for confirming of the source of where I had learned the song "Rocka my Soul."

Dear Valerie,

Yesterday, I was singing both of them, what lyrics I knew anyhow, to my friend Arleta. She said they are negro songs. Her words. :)

Blessings to you both, always in Jesus Christ,
DtB

P.S. I've been waking up to songs in my head and/or Scriptures in my head.
