When I was in college, my class spent two years working hard, homework was hard, I would go to sleep with a thick text book across my chest at around..oh..11 P.M every night.
We were studying electronics for communications. That’s Trigonometry for you great unwashed. In addition to this, I had to carry three other subjects, which made…well…exhaustion really, though I didn’t give a hoot about all the other subjects.

We had an electronics instructor who walked in, pulled out his slide rule, and began to teach before he got through the door, and if you didn’t listen…well…you figure it out.

At the end of the second year, and at the beginning of the first semester he walked in without his slide rule, and said this, “We have been studying math for electronics for the past two years…now you have to forget everything you’ve learned the past two years…we are going to learn about the Hall effect, and what you have learned does not, cannot apply. Stop learning, and start thinking.”

I said all that to say this. Stop learning about Adventism, and start thinking. Stop trying to make Adventism fit around the New Covenant. Stop trying to see how Adventism applies to the New Covenant, it does not, and cannot.

When we began to study the Hall effect, I had a hard time of it, I kept trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, and that is what a theoretical diagram of the Hall effect looks like..a round hole. Like looking down a worm hole, and I kept trying to make what I had learned go down that physics worm hole. Not here, and not today says the worm hole.

When you try to fit what you have learned in Adventism to the New Covenant…you are doing the same thing.

Am I getting through to anybody here? Stop learning, and start thinking, because how you grew up letting Adventism do the thinking for you does not apply, and cannot work here.

Goes to show how good my memory is..it was not the Hall effect that I was thinking of, but the Smith Chart, and the effect on transmission line theory.

But the analogy is fairly good anyway. I am afraid so many formers keep trying to retain what they have learned in Adventism, and apply that to New Covenant Christianity. The difference between Adventism, and New covenant Christianity is NOT 'continuing education'. :-)

I agree. It was only when the Lord convinced me to study scripture alone. No other inputs. That I began to understand.

Christianity and the tenants of Adventism are opposed to each other.
