Pheeki.
Can you post the Edinic Rest on this website. I would love to read it. I don't know how to access CARM or what CARM is for that matter. Lydell, Colleen and Pheeki. Would you mind if I print what you wrote so that I can translate it to spanish to show my mom?

I have to tell you, CARM is a confusing board to me, I can't figure out where the topic stops and ends and who is talking I have been trying though.

Sabra,

I know exacetly how you feel and when I first started I thought I would never understand it but I have learned so much and there have been some wonderful people who have patiently waited as I got the html thing under control.

Now the only thing that really bogs me down is the fact questions are not answered and this is just the typical SDA, of which, I as a teacher at heart find so upsetting.

I must conclude they have no desire to teach, only to make themselves appear "right".

Pheeki and I do covet your prayers though, as we wade in this deep water.

Thanks, Another Carol

Go ahead Jeanette. And praying that something one of us has said will be the one little seed that niggles until she has to pay attention to the problems with SDA doctrine.

Good one Pheeki, the Son IS the exact representation of God. Good grief, so much of God's character is left out of the 10. I remember the first time our pastor did a series on the names of God and what they tell us about His character. It pretty much went over my head. I kept thinking, Jehovah Jireh, so what, I don't speak that language. It was only the third time around hearing something on the subject that it finally all struck home. That was really only just before my dad died. And after that it was OH Jehovah SHALOM, yeah yeah, I get it now!

Lucas, that "law and the prophets" text you quoted is the very same text my elderly mom throws at me to prove to me that I have not only turned my back on the religion I was raised in since my birth but also I have turned my back on Truth. And, the text someone else quoed above, "if you love me you will keep my commandments", well, this is very sad and I don't know if many Adventists actually would have the nerve to say it but my mom does have the gall to say it and this is what she says; one cannot love God unless one keeps Saturday the way the SDA churchs it should be kept because of the text that says, "many will say "haven't I done great things in your name, miracles, casiing out deamons, etc" and I will spew them out of my mouth and say to them, Depart from me for I know you not". This proves that the worst Sabbath-keeping SDA is more on the right track with God than the best Sunday-keeping Christian who SDA's believe are not really Christisans anyway. It is totally goofy and frankly I think it's emotional child abuse to raise up a child to belive this morbid way but the one thing SDA's do have going for them is their sincerity and they are sincerely in error. Although never said in bold words I always somehow knew as a kid that we were better than anyone else in my neighborhood and we hasd more truth and knowledge than anyone else and we were the ones who knew the truth and the others in the hood were just stupid, ignorants offs heading stright to the lake of fire and unless they got smart and came to seek the truth that we had so we could share this eternal salvation message with them than we were going to be saved eternally forever and they were just here to do work to make earth a better place to live in during the here and now. It's sick! And, it is exactially like the jw's now teach their little children and this I know because I know A LOT of jw's. It is clear, plain child abuse and it is wrong. And, it seems so schitzopherenic. By this I mean. I have known several schitzopherenics and all somehow believe thwey have secret knowledge that only they have access to and often they wqill truly believe they arebeing spied on by the CIA or the FBI or whatever and the SDA's believe their churches are being spied on by the Catholic Jesuits. It's a schitzopherenic religion and it's child abuse to raie a kid to be mentally ill. That's why on these anti-cult websites there are actually psychologists who specialize in helping folks overcome the mental abuse of these sorts of religions. When I was confronted by my mom about me becomming a meber of a local Lurtheran church she actually asked me if I was taking clsses on how to torture Sabbath-keepers during the time of trouble. And, she was serious and it is very sad and it's is totally sick-o!

Susan, I thought your rememberance of feeling superior as a child was interesting. I completely identify with this. I always thought "We have THE truth and someday they'll all find out". I was absolutely convinced with no shadow of a doubt that other so-called-Christians were just plain ignorant and blind. I really believed that they thought differently from me, not because they viewed the Bible differently, but because they didn't know the Bible at all and were living in willful ignorance. I used to think that just being an Adventist alone assured that I knew the Bible better than 99.9% of all non-Adventist so-called-Christians (never mind that I didn't actually study the Bible much, I knew ABOUT all the truth that must be in the Bible because I was Adventist and we were THEE people of the book.....afterall our prophet said so and only she could infallibly interpret scripture). I was so smug, so right, so prideful, so superior, and so wrong. Turns out I was the one living in willful ignorance and blindness.

Pheeki, Carol, and the rest who chat on CARM.....HOW DO YOU DO IT????!!!!! I just spent a little time reading it, and as always, it leaves me so frustrated and depressed. Again, I applaud and admire you, and know that God uses you, but it sure frustrates me and even starts bringing back that old sick, scared feeling, the old SDA baggage.

I'm curious, I cannot spend too much time on that site because it truly does upset me, but what do the SDAs on that site say about the shut door theory. I read a little bit, but surely they have some great argument about it. I'm just wondering how they can possibly defend it.

I do appreciate when you bring up topics like the recent "piano tuners" title. At the very least, lurkers on that site who are considering sda-ism, surely the more they see these counsels and claims of Egwhites, will reconsider.

Love you all, Carol #2

HOW DO YOU DO IT????!!!!!

Carol 2,

Because of your prayers and God's tug at my heart.

Having said that, please do not beat yourself up because you can't.

As I have said before I totally understand and a few months ago I said I am to depressed to do this but God gave me strength to go on.

There are always other ways to help and one of them is your prayers and just the fact you are there reading is a comfort to me.

Before my daughter-in-law died I said I could never stand to lose someone like that but God was there and gave me the strength and even allowed me to speak at her memorial.

Be patient God is doing something in you that might not be seen for some time, but know that He is there and it may not be what you think will happen. I certainly never pictured myself doing what I am doing.

Your prayers are enough, Carol

Susan and Chris,

That superiority complex would be better defined as pride and they can't see that they are the Scribes and the Pharisees of the present age. Somehow 3ABN started coming through on my TV just in the past couple of weeks and sometimes I'm flipping through the channels and just have to stop and see what they are putting out on the air to poor, unsuspecting people and I am shocked! This guy on It is Written was doing a Revelation Seminar and when he talks of the wicked, that are destroyed because they don't obey God's law there is a definate anger in his voice and gestures, he starts talking about it and swings his arms very pompously and very smuggly spits out this "truth" that the non SDA world is inferior and against God. It makes me sick.

When the Church talks about the lost we are sad, we are compassionate, we want to reach them, not prove them all wrong and let them burn! If they could only see!!!

One weird thing I did see the other day (I really don't watch this channel much) was this preacher talking about the baptism of the Holy Spirit as explained in Acts. I did not know this was SDA doctrine or even excepted with them. He said that there is a definate baptism of the Holy Spirit apart from water baptism. Does anyone know if this is a new revelation for them or what?

Carol 2,

So good to know it works for you that way too. I mean thru other people we are given a inspiration, understanding and encouragment.

This must always totally line up with what the Bible says.

This is why I know that I know that I know because my Bible has corroborated all that I have lived these last 30+ years in a marriage, parents, children and inlaws.

It's all about LOVE, Carol

I would like to share something with you now that I tried last night but to post something new I quess you need your original password and I cannot find it right now. So I will post here:

This is about my son and daughter-in-law's dog Amber. We lost our daughter-in-law in 1991 to a car accident. They were married 5 years but had no children and this dog was their "child".

This is the email I got Thursday morning:

I decided to send you all an e-mail so that I didn't have to cry on the phone 3 times.

Amber died last nite.

We buried her this morning before the girls got up for school. I fulfilled Shelly's wish, and she's buried underneath the big set of trees that we have in the field to the east. I can't even imagine how happy both Shelly and Amber are now. Amber can finally run freely, and I can see her tearing around, trying to "herd" something where she wants it to go. When she's not running, I'm sure that she's sitting on Shelly's lap, giving Shelly TONS of kisses, and tears of joy are flowing down Shelly's face. It must be a beautiful site, indeed.

We didn't tell the girls before they went to school so that they wouldn't be upset at school. They took it very well this evening when we told them. At first they didn't really do anything when we told them. It was late when we told them (Karen had a meeting), and all they wanted to do was go and see where she was. Once they realized what happened, they started crying.

It's all OK now...

Praise God for the Hope we have even in the midst of lonelyness still for my precious daughter-in-law, Another Carol

Dear Former Adventist Fellowship,

For a couple of years now I have haunted this site. A year, or so, ago I posted a few messages, but I have continued to read and follow you, and consider you friends. Yesterday, Sabbath afternoon, my 29 year old brother was killed in an auto accident. He had a wife and two sons. The kids are ages four, and two months. Please surround Brandy, Trey, and Easton with your prayers.

Thank you,

Derrell

Derrall,

After my previous post you will realize that I will certainly lift up you and your brother's family in prayer.

May the verse that was a mainstay at my daughter-in-law's death be there for you also.

Romans 8:28 All things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

His purpose is that none should perish but have everlasting life.

What a comfort to know that we as imperfect humans can trust in the perfect power of our Creater God and Father Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Love and Prayers, Another Carol

Dear Derrell,
I am so sorry to hear about your brother... a very tragic situation for your family. May God's comfort surround all of you, giving you hope and peace even in the midst of your grief.

I read the "obituary" section of our paper each morning...perhaps to keep the realization of death before me; knowing that today could be my last here on earth. Our lives here are so fleeting.

I would be hopeless without Jesus. To know that all my deep feelings to know and be known, to love and be loved, have now (and will always have) their true fulfillment and end in GOD...forever.

All my hopes begin and end in Him.

grace always,
cindy

p.s. Derrell
This is one of my favorite songs; wish you could hear the music also... The song is by "PFR" and the words go:

"I'm remembering the words inside my head
I heard them yesterday
A whisper telling me that life waits up ahead
Beyond the day to day
Though this world will hand me my fair share
of pain
Leave me broken and bruised
I know there's a Father and His Son who
know my name
And they will see me through
Oh yeah, I know

I believe He paid the price
A sacrifice so we could be together
Forever
And I know when I see Jesus' face
All my tears will be erased forever
Forever

Hidden in my heart
The day He called me friend
The day He set me free
I found Him one summer day
Or better said, Jesus, You found me
I gave You my loneliness and broken heart
You gave to me Your love, Your love

I've come to know
I've come to know love
I've come to know the truth
I've come to know
I've come to know love

I believe He paid the price
A sacrifice so we could be together
Forever
And I do believe I'll see the face
Of Jesus and we'll both embrace together
Forever."

Derrell, I am so sorry about your brother. Did he live close to you? Did he know Jesus?

I will be praying for you and for his wife and children. When my father died two years ago, the people on this forum prayed for me, and I absolutely felt the comfort and strength of their prayers and of my colleagues' prayers. I've never experienced that before, but I remember walking through the hallway of the school where I teach and thinking how amazing it was that I could feel the strength of Jesus holding me, and knowing it was the result of people's prayers for me.

I'm so glad you came here and told us about this tragedy and let us share it with you. We consider you our friend, too, and you've continued to be in our prayers since you first posted.

In Jesus' love,
Colleen

Darrell Thank you for sharing that story with us. We are here for each other and will keep you and family in prayer. There is not much I can say you that will help in a loss like that but we will keep you in prayer. Where are you in the journey of your life?
