Cas and Nep, Please keep in mind the following, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" 1John 3:1
I know it's a heavy burden dealing with family and the whole sabbath dilemma. I will keep praying for you. It was strange for me also, to attend church on Sun.in the begining. But as I grew in the confidence of scripture and the finished work of the cross, it became quite a normal thing. It now seems odd to worship on any other day but Sun. "the Lord's day!" I still believe in a sabbath rest. But I define that as resting in Christ. For me, sabbath is not a day but a person.
You can now define yourselves as children of God, period! It is truly refreshing to put off the old, and live in the new. You can have such an assurance that you were chosen by God to belong to His true church. Not a sda, but part of the body of Christ. That my friends, is blessed assurance!

Well said, Susan! Cas, I remember a time during our lengthy "transition" when officially we were Adventists but privately we knew we were not. Richard was filling out a form for lab work, and it asked for his religious affiliation. I'll never forget him deliberately writing in "Christian" and then looking at me with such pleased, satisfied grin! That's what we are now: Christians! Isn't it wonderful to have our identity in Jesus alone?

Being alone in your faith is a horrible experience. Those who have been life long Adventists probably know a lonliness that those who were members only in adult life can not know. I remember my parents telling me "The church is your family". To this day, there are cousins in my small community that I don't even know. I understand NEP when she mourns her family. When I left I lost my family of faith and my fraternal family. First because in a great extent they were the same and second because my "extended family" was the church. In leaving, you loose your family, your heritage. and your entire past history.

Then you remember the lonely road that our Saviour trod so we could be FREE to leave! As Paul said, I count these tribulations as small when compared to the glory that will be revealed. Cas and NEP, my dear sisters, hang on to Jesus and Him alone. He is who you belong to, not a denomination of any kind. "Who are we?" You are a daughter of the King! You are His child and His precious love. Never sell yourself short. He died the most horrible death devised by man....for only YOU. This is what our friends in the Adventist church can not understand and will not except.....that Jesus died for all who believe in Him. And that His death is all you need to be saved.

Find a church who will except and love you. You will find healing and love in the fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ. Don't worry what name they go by. There are many. You will find believers everywhere. They are easy to spot, they smile a lot and don't mind sharing the joy of their salvation! Jesus loves you, and so do I!
