Amen and Amen Susan. You just hit the nail on the head. I think you have the correct perspective on these issues. May God keep you within his gracious freedom to enjoy life without abusing that freedom.

Timo, On the CWB, it's "Printed and distributed by Review and Herald [registered trademark] Publishing Association."

So who owns R&H?

Just a thought on the CWB. Doesn't anyone think that this book is an unbelievable sign, that adventism is really, really WAY out-of-line? The audacity of this chuch just blows me away. How dare they change God's holy word!!! Have they bothered to look at Rev. 22:18,19? For a church that has placed themselves as having a special role in end-times, you think they'd have seen this warning. I'd love to hear if anyone else is outraged by this book like me.

I was shocked but not upset when I learned of the CWB. This just makes it easier to identify SDA as a cult.
How about a couple more verses.
ìYe shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.î Deut. 4:2.
ìAdd thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.î Prov. 30:6.

I don't believe that Adventists officially promote the Clear Word. Yes, they sell it; yes, they printed it. But it wasn't officially prepared by the R&H. It was written/edited by Jack Blanco, chairman of the theology dept. of Southern Adventist University, and it was printed at the R&H as an "outside client". So the church has distanced itself from the book, but at the same time it sells it. It's sort of like talking out of both sides of one's mouth.

I think the Adventist preoccupation with diet and health is blatantly carnal. It's amazing to me how such self-absorption has become packaged as the "right arm of the message." In the Bible, the gospel is the Good News that Jesus has died and saved us from sin. Nowhere does it identify health and/or diet as part of the gospel or the message.

I am so grateful to God to be set free! I praise Jesus for loving me and drawing me to Himself.

Has Ellen White preached ìanother gospelî? Look at her quote from page 75 of Counsels on Diet and Foods:
ìThe Lord has given instruction that the gospel be carried forward; and the gospel includes health reform in all its phases...The GOSPEL OF HEALTH is to be firmly linked with the ministry of the word. It is the Lordís design that the restoring influence of health reform shall be a part of the last great effort to proclaim the gospel message.î pg. 75.
