One more thing:

No one came to my defense the numerous times that Max has accused me of teaching a false gospel or various other accusations. Except George. (Hi, George). Yet, people silently accept Max's pronunciations of "anemic gospel" and "cheap" and "bogus" grace; even his pantheistic statements. I don't get it.

Well, this is his domain. So be it.

May the Lord truly bless you with the knowledge and conviction of the sufficiency of His very genuine grace for the sake of the doing and dying of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Patti

Hi Patti,

Thank you for your response. I didn't feel accused;-)

I am assuming that your "one word" answer was "NO."

With that assumption, I fail to see where we differ to the point that we appear to be differing.

Since I believe in "salvation by grace alone plus NOTHING" and you believe in "salvation by grace alone plus NOTHING" I'm very happy to just leave this discussion alone till I have completed what I'm working on.

It really takes alot of my time to do this as I'm slow and the materials I have are scattered. I am continually amazed at your ability to post what you do. I would need 36 hours a day to do what you do!;-))

Cindy, This is a totally wonderful place to live. This week I will have to start a seperate thread to talk about all of the wonderful places in the NW.

It took me a while to adjust. We lived in Bucks County PA before we moved here. And I terribly missed the atmosphere of history, the old stone fronts, the museums and historical parks.

We lived very near the Delaware River and the drive home from about anywhere we went was a picturesque drive along the river and through beautiful pre revolutionary war homes.

But this is hiking, skiing, sailing, camping MECCA. You will have to take your boys to several places. First is to the GORGE GAMES this summer. The other is to Crater Lake Park. It is excellent for x cty skiing. Then there is Coos Bay, a wonderland of sand dunes and tidal pools.

If you ever come up further north, you better let me know. I still have some great cooking in mind for you and would love to play tour hostess.

Sorry all for get off task. I will be back on the next time.

Patti...Please bear with me!... :-))

Firstof all, I was not "slapping your hand!" Quite the contrary...
Because I have always felt we are "kindred spirits" on the SUPREMACY of the GOSPEL (of that alien Righteousness--outside of us--gained by Christ Alone!) is why I felt I could try and speak honestly with you. Remember... your posts back last May and June were what motivated me to start posting here in the first place!

Perhaps I am wrong; I really have tried to post what is helpful, but I know I have not always done this!

Secondly, of course the gospel message is about Jesus!! I can't believe that you would be "ostracized" here for holding to that!

Thirdly, I am frustrated, Patti...You said that "no one came to my defense..." That is not true. I specifically spoke up for you! Go back to wherever that charge was...I did not think it was fair at the time.

Now I am beginning to wonder... You seem to be angry... and not either remembering posts or not reading them thoroughly?

You KNOW I questioned Max's pantheistic-seeming statements. And you KNOW he even later apologized for them...

Fourthly, this is not Max's "domain"! It is all of ours! We are a redeemed community living "under the Cross", equal to each other!... yet trying to live in that humility of considering others' opinions worth listening to! And we are acccountable to each other; we all held together by the marvelous "glue" of the GRACE of God!

And lastly, your wrote about FOCUSING on Christ, not ourselves...Did you not see what I wrote above?

Or did you just not agree with my thoughts on the possibility of ANY growth in spiritual maturity here in this present life? I wrote:

"When we believe in JESUS, His Holy Spirit will stay with us, hounding us to focus on Christ, not ourselves--the only way at all we can even grow spiritually.
Even this "growth" is gradual but a sure thing if we focus on CHRIST!
And OF COURSE! we have ABSOLUTELY ALL THE GROWTH NECESSARY FOR SALVAION FINISHED ONCE AND FOR ALL AT THE CROSS!
The wrath of God has fallen on Christ, we have "escaped" by trusting in HIS WORK alone!
We are RECONCILED and have ACCESS into our HOLY GOD'S PRESENCE... where we can REST in this SECURITY.
What great news to live by each day!"

I will close on this...You have not "worn out your welcome", Patti! If you seek "new pastures", I think you will miss all of us silly "sheep" here. :-))

I believe that ALL OF US WHO BELIEVE AND TRUST IN CHRIST'S RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE--FOR US!--ARE "INCLUDED" IN HIS KINGDOM RIGHT NOW!

And we can safely REST in the pastures of our GOOD SHEPHERD, Jesus...:-))

"Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
for HE IS OUR GOD
and WE ARE THE PEOPLE OF HIS PASTURE,
THE FLOCK UNDER HIS CARE." Psalm 95:6,7

Grace always,
Cindy
p.s. Please forgive me if this sounds "holier-than-thou"...
Your personal input here, Patti, has been invaluable!

Patti,

I concur with Cindy. I don't say much, but I do read alot and mull things over. Your input IS invaluable. You have me thinking alot. I tend to think of works alot and your views have really started me in a different direction.

Like I said, I don't speak much here but I think if you leave, we will be the worse for it.

Please send it to me again and no, I haven't made it to church yet and no one has contacted me but it has been a hectic couple months. I am tooooooooooooooo old but very thankful to be a mother to an 18 mnth old. By the time I catch up with her I am worn out. It is easier dealing with my teens then her but she is a very very happy child.

Is everyone having trouble with the site? I can not get to the topics of recent discussion through the last day link. What is the most convenient way to get around this. I have been going to discussion and then scrolling through which is somewhat tedious. (what a whiner I am) What are you all doing?

Yeah, It's kicking my iMac around like a soccer
ball at a Quake's game.

Valerie, have you tried clicking on New
Messages, then entering how far back -- the
number of hours or days -- you wish to retrieve
posts?

iMac...ooops...Hi Max;-),

A better way to describe posterior kicking would be to liken it to the Raven's kicking the the Tiny's, oops, I mean Giant's booties all around the Gulf of Mexico;-)) :-))'-)),-));)):))^-))

Maybe I'm dense, but my Webster's 10th says
a bootie is "an infant's knitted or crocheted
sock."

Does anybody realize that the English word
"probation" is not found in any of the following
versions of Scripture?

NIV = New International Version
KJV = King James Version
NASB = New American Standard Bible
RSV = Revised Standard Version
DT = Darby Translation
YLT = Young's Literal Translation
WE = Worldwide English

Now, there has to be a reason for this!

Max, I will try the New Messages route as I did not know about that. And thanks for the tid bit on probation. I have been interested to know that as I went out on a limb and told my brother there is no end of probation in the Bible it was an EGW invented concept.

Cindy,
Please forgive my directness. I have a bad habit of saying exactly what I think.
I am sorry I put folks on the defensive.
If you would like to talk this out, please feel free to email me.

Grace and peace always,

Thanks, Patti...:-))

Yes, rather than being on the defensive, :-)), I wish to just relax, REST!, in the magnificent Grace bestowed on me by Christ!

There is a grand reality to live in; and we need each other!... to encourage and help each other in this very often difficult world.

Hang in here with us, Patti...we can learn from each other. We are a community, saved totally-- right now!-- because of Christ Alone! His grace is for you and me separately, and yet it binds us to one another, also.

Grace always,
Cindy
