I thought the SDA leaders were against Mel Gibson's "Passion" movie... yet here are SDAs using his name and movie to sell more EGW Passion Books!
What do you think about this??

It is unethical.
But then, I am discovering the SDA church will use any deceptive trick to attract people to them.
God does not need that kind of advertising but He is still in control.

I think this sort of tactic is abhorrant. However, considering that The Revolation Seminars, the Five Day Stop Smoking Classes, The Vegetarian Cooking Classes and so man other things, including the t.v. progams such as Faith for Today and the Doug Biotchler program as well as the quiet Hour and the others are not advertised as SDA either. It seems deceiteful to me but then we on here know that is the way the SDA markets itself. They don't and then after a while they slip it in that they are SDA.

I'll just put this post here so I don't have t5o scroll way far down the topics. Here goes it-Last night the little SDA church where my son attends had movie night. Guess what movie they played? You got it! The Passion by Mel Gibson. Now, frankly, I have no problemm with that movie. I went to the theatre to see it when it came out. However, the SDA press has been so derogatory towards Mr. Gibson and the movie, and as we all know the SDA church does teach it is wrong to go to the movies. This particular church is a Spanish speeking church and most the congreation adults were raised Catholic and then the SDA's hooked them with the Sabbath issue. But, I guess what irritates me the most is how much the SDA bigwigs have tried to steer their membership away from this movie and then the little local SDA churches show it in their gyms on movie night. I just don't see how come the SDA faithful can go see it at a SDA function and not in the theatre. Apparently after the movie the SDA's were to have a discussion about it. And, frankly I don't believe the converts from Catholic to SDA have improved the lives toward a spiritual qyuest of Christianity one bit. It is frustrating to me. However, these converts aren't ready to give up all lifes pleasures. In fact, they may not even know what the SDA church teaches, we all on here know that just may be the case. I say that because I recently went to pick up my granddaughter from Pathfinders and the Pathfinder leader mentioned that he was in a hurry to get home. One lady asked him how come he was in such a hurry and he said because he had a cold beer waiting for him in the refridgerator that he had to get to. I just thought he must be a recent convert and hadn't been told yet the SDA position on beer.
