Maybe a book later, problem is they would probably sue me. CW, I also dreaded weekends, especially pay day, full moon weekends. |

I was thinking also, that you could write a very interesting book, but use aliases. I would buy it. But I know the SDAs would give you a hard time about it. Did you have to sign anything when you started working their about not writing anything about the church??? Just curious.
Glad you are out and learning more about Jesus. I continue to pray for your wife.

Hello 91steps,
I am bewildered and confused by your above posts. I do not understand why you are concerned about the nationality of the staff and officers working for the SDA church at the GC. You are implying that they should be seeking US citizenship and/or in some way have, or demonstrate allegiance to the United States.
I fail to understand why they would want to do this, or what purpose that would serve.
I cannot understand why you assume they would want to become US citizens.
Are we to expect every foreign-born executive of multinational corporations posted in the US to seek US citizenship or pledge allegience?
Each of these individuals I suspect has the same love and allegience for their home country that you clearly have for yours. I suspect most are looking forward to returning to their homelands when their terms are completed at the GC.
To judge a person's character, integrity, or trustworthiness based on citizenship or nationality, in my opinion is unfortunate and sad.

Randy, I am speaking from experience, I spent 7 years working at the GC. My main reason for terminating my on-call status at the GC was due to the security clearance I hold. I have to be extremely carefull with coming in contact with foriegn nationals from certain countries. And there are employees at the GC from those countries.
I have seen open hostility towards the United States by employees of the GC, most of them were "americans", not foriegn born. I am not going to go into details because it angers me too much to even remember the things I saw.
But I lost friends in the Military to afford these people the freemdoms which they love and take for granted. So based on my personal beliefs I resigned from the GC, my employer did not order me to do so, I was told I could continue to work for them on call as long as I was careful whom I spoke to and dealt with.
Randy, again, I speak from personal experience, I saw things at the GC that would turn your stomach. Things that most employees there didn't because they were isolated within their own office or cubicle. But rest assured, I am speaking from personal experience, not from second hand info.
Diana, I didn't have to sign anything when I started or left the GC, so maybe when I get caught up with chores around my house I will start work on a book. I have wanted to write a novel based on my time in the Military. |

Hopefully, you will write a "tell-all" book about what you witnessed at the General Conference headquarters. You would need to have an attorney review your manuscript to make certain that the GC legal department would have no basis to retain their Catholic lawyer to sue you.

I would love to read such a book once it was written. I am going to speculate that since SDA's view the United States as the Two-horned Beast of Revelation, their loyalty to their country takes a distant backseat to their loyalty to their religious affiliation. I make this presumption based on being taught that I would need to make a choice between my country and my "faith" at some point in time.
I agree, with Dennis--make certain that you name no names, nor give any dates. Be careful giving descriptions of your characters, too. You must be certain that nobody can make those nasty little connections to living/historic real people/events. |

Dennis, I seriously doubt that they would attempt to sue me, too many folks there know that if they tried that they had best pack a lunch. Because I would fight them tooth and nail. Nah, they are more worried about law suits that they are 100% certain they would win, they don't want a black eye!!!
As far as a Catholic lawyer, this is the first time I heard that before. The GC has a STRICT policy against hiring non-SDA's. I saw many non SDA's bring resumes in and get rejected and they would come back mad as all get out. I had to threaten to arrest one woman for rasing a ruckus in the lobby.
I felt sorry for her and she was rightlfully ticked off, and they must have paid her off because I never heard anything else about it.
My basis for my dislike for the church is that they hold there faith above their Country. I would tell people I was an American FIRST and a Christian second. I am sure that this doesn't sit well with members here, but I have defended our nation in the past and would do so again.

So they refuse to hire non-SDAs, but they think that not only should non-SDAs be required to hire SDAs but they should even be required to give them their "Sabbaths" off.

It was a Roman Catholic lawyer who was hired to defend Ellen White against plagiarism in 1981 or so. |

Jeremy, I was told by the pastor tbat baptized me to LIE on any job application/interview with it came to the Sabbath. I was told to go ahead get the job, then ask for Sabbaths off. If my employer refused then the GC would provide me with a lawyer to sue. That didn't sit well with me, I had numerous companies not hire me over the Sabbath issue, but I could not bring myself to lie in order to win a law suit. |
